Last Time Out...
-
Nick Poisson scored both goals as the No. 10 Providence College men's hockey team and Boston College skated to their second tie of the weekend, a 2-2 stalemate at Schneider Arena on Saturday night (Dec. 3). The Eagles earned the extra point with a 2-1 win in the four-round shootout.
- The teams skated through the opening period scoreless.
- Boston College appeared to take an early lead on a power-play goal but the goal was waived for the zone entry being offsides after a Providence coaches challenge.
- The Friars couldn't convert on their lone power play opportunity of the first period.
- Providence finally broke through at the 10:37 mark of the second period as
Nick Poisson hammered his own rebound past Benson for his fourth of the season to make it 1-0.
Max Crozier and
Jamie Engelbert earned the assists.
- Connor Joyce leveled the game for the Eagles at 15:53 as his turn-around wrist shot found its way through traffic.
- In the third period, Matt Argentina beat Svedeback off a rush at the 7:11 mark to give the Eagles a 2-1 lead.
- Poisson found the equalizer and his second goal of the night exactly four minutes later, burying a feed from
Riley Duran.
- Providence had multiple good chances in the final minutes of regulation but the game went to overtime, the eighth such game for the Friars this season.
- Boston College outshot the Friars by a 5-1 margin in the extra frame but Svedebäck stood tall with multiple stops on high-quality chances.
- In the shootout,
Bennett Schimek scored his second shootout goal of the weekend but Nikita Nesterenko and Argentina scored to give the visiting Eagles the extra point.
