PROVIDENCE R.I. – It was announced today (Nov. 10) that senior freshman
Angelo Ventrella (Toronto, Canada) of the Providence College men's soccer team was named the BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week and BIG EAST Freshman of the Week.
Ventrella registered two goals in the Friars much-needed come-from-behind draw against No. 11 Georgetown on Friday, Nov. 7 on Chapey Field at Anderson Stadium. Ventrella scored on a feed from
Ian Abbey (Elmer, N.J.) to make the game 2-1 late in the first half. He then connected on a header on a corner kick pass from
Pearse O'Brien (West Hartford, Conn.) in the 76
th minute to tie the game at 2. The performance marked Ventrella's first multigoal game of his career. Ventrella has scored five goals this season for the Friars, four of which have come against BIG EAST opponents.
The result punched Providence's ticket into the program's 25
th BIG EAST Tournament.

The Friars will play Georgetown again in the semifinal round of the BIG EAST Tournament on Thursday, Nov. 13 at 7:30 p.m. at Maryland SoccerPlex in Boyds, Md. The game will be streamed on ESPN+.
