Diego Batista named to All-BIG EAST First Team

GAITHERSBURG, MD. – It was announced today (Nov. 12) that four players from the Providence College men's soccer team received All-BIG EAST honors following their performances during the 2025 regular season. Senior captain Diego Batista (Barcelos, Portugal) earned a spot on the All-BIG EAST First Team. Senior Bruno Rosa (Cascais, Portugal) and graduate student Charlie Dickerson (Norwich, England) were named to the All-BIG EAST Second Team, while senior Sam Montalto (Stonington, Conn.) was selected to the All-BIG EAST Third Team.

Midfielder Diego Batista started in all 15 games for the Friars this season, registering an assist, while anchoring the midfield and contributing on both sides of the ball. Batista, a 2025 Preseason All-BIG EAST Team selection and a member of the United Soccer Coaches "Players to Watch" list has been key to the Friars' 25th appearance in the BIG EAST Tournament. This marks Batista's first career All-BIG EAST First Team recognition and his second overall All-BIG EAST honor after being part of the All-BIG EAST Third Team in 2024.

Forward Bruno Rosa finished the season as one of Providence's top attacking threats. Rosa tallied 11 points on four goals and three assists while starting all 14 matches he played. He was a consistent playmaker throughout conference play and earned BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week for his 5-point performance against Villanova earlier this season. Rosa was a member of the 2025 Preseason All-BIG EAST Team as well as the 2025 United Soccer Coaches Players to Watch List. This is Rosa's second All-BIG EAST selection, after being named to the All-BIG EAST Second Team last season.

Defender Charlie Dickerson has been a mainstay in Providence's back line since joining the team this season, starting all 15 matches and logging over 1300 minutes. He is part of a defense that secured four shutouts this season, including one against UConn which earned Dickerson a BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll recognition. Dickerson has also been a consistent threat on corner kick opportunities, logging nine shots on the season as a center back. This is Dickerson's first All-BIG EAST selection.

Forward Sam Montalto led the Friars in scoring with 13 points on five goals and three assists in 11 games played. The senior sits at fifth in the BIG EAST in total points and has earned BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll recognition three times so far this season. Montalto has had several big moments this season, including an equalizing goal in the 90th minute at Brown to secure a much-needed point. This is Montalto's first All-BIG EAST selection.
