PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The Providence College men's soccer team (6-6-2, 4-2-1 BIG EAST) is set to host No. 11 Georgetown University (10-3-3, 6-0-1 BIG EAST) for senior night on Friday, Nov. 7 at 7:00 p.m. on Chapey Field at Anderson Stadium. The game will be streamed on ESPN+.
Saturday's game is important for Providence's postseason aspirations. The Friars are in a four-way tie for third in the BIG EAST standings. The top four teams in the league make the BIG EAST Tournament that will take place Nov. 13-16 at Maryland SoccerPlex in Boyds, Md. Georgetown, and Creighton sit above Providence in the standings, while UConn, Seton Hall and Akron are tied with the Friars at 13 points. All teams have one match remaining. If the Friars win on Friday night they will clinch a spot in the BIG EAST Tournament. If the Friars tie, there are seven scenarios where the team earns a spot in the tournament and two where they are out. With a loss, there is one scenario where Providence gets in and six where they are left out.

SCOUTING THE FRIARS
Providence enters Friday's match in a four-way tie for third in the BIG EAST standings. The Friars are coming off a 3-2 come-from-behind win at DePaul their last time out and are looking to register more points as the regular season standings wind down.

Sam Montalto (Stonington, Conn.) and senior
Bruno Rosa (Cascais, Portugal) found the back of the net for the Friars. The Friars fell behind 1-0 and 2-1 in the match before taking the lead on a penalty kick in the second half by Rosa.
Through 14 games, the Friars have outshot opponents 181-133, which comes to an average of 12.9 shots per game. They also hold an 81-54 advantage in shots on target and hold a 80-51 advantage in corner kicks.
Sam Montalto leads the team in points and is sitting at fourth in the BIG EAST in total points, registering 13.
Bruno Rosa is second on the team with 11 points.
Ian Abbey (Elmer, N.J.) has put together a strong senior campaign, registering eight points on three goals and two assists. Freshman
Angelo Ventrella has scored three goals in his first season with the Friars. Junior
Fernando Garcia Gil (Granada, Spain) has been consistent offensive threat for the Friars, registering two goals this year.
Caden Stafford (Cincinnatus, N.Y.),
Cameron Yriondo (Sammamish, Wash.),
Vasco Teixeira (Arrentela, Portugal) and
Khayr Ogunsanya (Sicklerville, N.J.) all have recorded one goal on the year.
Pearse O'Brien leads the team in assists with five, which puts him in the top five in the BIG EAST.
Defensively, the Friars have conceded 17 goals while holding opponents to nine shots per game. Redshirt-freshman goalkeeper
Ryan Carney (Dunstable, Mass.) has started every match in net this season, collecting 37 saves and a .685 save percentage. Graduate

AWARDS AND RECOGNITION
It was announced on Sept. 29 that senior
Sam Montalto was named to the
BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll. Montalto registered two goals in a 1-0-1 week for the Friars, tallying the equalizer in the 90
th minute in a 1-1 draw with Brown, as well as adding a goal in a 3-2 win at Xavier.
It was announced on Oct. 6 that senior
Bruno Rosa was named the
BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week. Rosa registered five points in the Friars' 5-0 win over Villanova, tallying two goals and an assist. Rosa became the first Friar to receive this recognition since Brendan McSorley in 2023.
It was announced on Oct. 20 that redshirt freshman goalkeeper
Ryan Carney of the Providence College men's soccer team was named the
BIG EAST Freshman of the Week. Senior forward
Sam Montalto was also named to the
BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll. It marked Carney's first BIG EAST recognition and Montalto's second of the season.
It was announced on Oct. 27 that graduate student
Charlie Dickerson (Norwich, England) of the Providence College men's soccer team was named to the
BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll.
Dickerson anchored the back line for Providence in a 0-0 tie with UConn. The clean sheet marked Providence's fourth of the season.
It was announced on Nov. 3 that senior
Sam Montalto (Stonington, Conn.) of the Providence College men's soccer team was named to the
BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll for the third time this season. Montalto registered the game-tying goal in a come from behind win at DePaul.
Two returners earned All-BIG EAST honors last season for the Friars. Rosa earned All-BIG EAST Second Team. Senior midfielder
Diego Batista (Barcelos, Portugal) was named to the All-BIG EAST Third Team. Both Rosa and Batista were named to the 2025 Preseason All-BIG EAST Team on Aug. 19.
SCOUTING THE HOYAS
Georgetown comes into Friday's match after clinching the BIG EAST East Division Championship against Xavier last week. Georgetown currently sits at the top of the BIG EAST standings and has the top seed clinched for the BIG EAST Tournament. The Hoyas are winners of their last four and have outscored opponents 13-1 during that stretch. Georgetown has outscored opponents 39-11 on the year. Since starting the season 0-2, the Hoyas are 10-1-3. Senior midfielder Zach Zengue has led the Georgetown attack this season, tallying 12 goals and 8 assists for 32 points, which puts him at first in the BIG EAST in total points. Goalkeeper Tenzing Manske sits at third in the BIG EAST in goals against average and fifth in saves.
