PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The USTFCCCA released its latest Regional and National Coaches' Poll on September 16. The Providence College women's cross country team is ranked No.1 in the Northeast Region and No. 6 in the nation. The team moved up one spot in the poll.
In the Friars' last meet at the Friar Invitational in Attleboro, Mass. on Sept. 5, sophomore Gabby Schmidt (Brisbane, Australia) won the women's race (4k) in a time of 14:07.82 and led the team to a first-place finish over three other teams. It marked the sixth-consecutive year that the Friar women's team has won the Friar Invitational. After Schmidt, senior
Cara Laverty (Derry, Ireland) and freshman
Kate Currie (Christchurch, New Zealand) finished second and third, respectively.
The Friars will return to action on Friday, Oct. 3 at the Sean Earl Lake Front Invitational on Chicago, Ill.
