NOTES / HIGHLIGHTS:
• Gueye finished with a career-high 31 points on 15-26 shooting and added seven rebounds, three assists and two steals.
• She is just the third Friar in program history to score 30+ points in a BIG EAST Tournament game and first since Tori Rule dropped 30 against Marquette in the First Round on March 7, 2015.
• Tori Rule and Sonya Lewis are the only other Friars to score 30-or-more points in a game – and both achieved the feat twice. Tori Rule – 30 vs. Marquette (First Round, 2015) and 35 vs. Georgetown (First Round, 2013). Sonya Lewis did it in back-to-back games of the same BIG EAST Tournament – 31 vs. Boston College (First Round, 1993) and 33 vs. Georgetown (Quarterfinals – 1993).
• Gueye entered the game 17-points shy of 1,000 for her career and reached the milestone before halftime.
• Brown recorded her team-best fourth double-double with 14 points and 14 rebounds. Her 14 boards matched her season high, which she also established against CCSU (Nov. 10) and Bryant (Nov. 30).
• Brown needed just four points to eclipse the 1,500-point career milestone and achieved the milestone in the first half.
• Gormley completed the game with 13 points, five rebounds, seven assists and five steals. She shot 5-7 from the field, including 3-3 from beyond the arc.
• In three meetings this season against DePaul, Gormely recorded 21 steals. In the first meeting between the two teams on Jan. 4 in Chicago, Ill. Gormley collected a career-high nine steals.
• Providence defeated DePaul in the BIG EAST Tournament for the first time, having been defeated the previous three meetings.
• Providence earned its first BIG EAST Tournament victory since eliminating Butler in the First Round on March 8, 2024.
• Providence is the No. 7 seed for the second-straight season. Last year, the No. 7 Friars were defeated in the First Round by No. 10 seed Georgetown, 58-56 on March 7, 2025.
• The Friars improved to 6-4 all-time as the No. 7 seed, including a 4-1 mark in the First Round.
• Third-year Head Coach
Erin Batth was unable to coach the Friars' First Round game due to illness. Associate Head Coach
Valerie Nainima was designated as the acting head coach for the game.
