PISCATAWAY, N.J. - The Providence College women's soccer team battled back from a two-goal deficit to tie Rutgers, 3-3, on Sunday, Aug. 30 at Yurcak Field in Piscataway, N.J. The Friars remain unbeaten through six games and move to 2-0-4 on the season, marking the program's best start in the 21st century. Rutgers moves to 0-1-3 overall. Freshman Jocy Koffi (Abidjan, Ivory Coast) scored twice for the Friars, marking her first multi-goal collegiate game. Koffi now has five career goals through six games this season.

GAME FLOW & NOTES

Coming into today's match, freshman Jocy Koffi leads the BIG EAST in goals with three.
Rutgers set the tone early, taking a 1-0 lead as Ashley Baran scored in the second minute (1:46) on an assist by Gabriella Gil.
Rutgers doubled its lead in the 19^th minute (18:28) to go up 2-0 when Reilly McGlinn scored off a long ball assist from Lilia Calvert to put the ball in the bottom right corner.
Providence responded early in the second half to cut the deficit to 2-1 in the 49th minute (48:51). Koffi scored her fourth career goal on a penalty kick.
In the 55^th minute (54:31) Rutgers regained a two-goal advantage to make it 3-1 as result of an own goal by Providence.
The Friars received two yellow cards in the second half in the 76^th and 79^th minute (75:37), (78:50). The yellow cards were given to Samantha Kolb and Leila Anazagasty-Pursoo.
Shorty after, Rutgers' Morgan Hippeli and Julia Joseph each received a yellow card in the 81^st and 86^th minute (80:30), (85:57).
Providence cut the deficit to one in the 85th minute (84:51) when Carolyn Hinkle (Millersville, Pa.) scored off an assist from Samantha Kolb (Long Beach, N.Y.).
Koffi completed the comeback just over a minute later, scoring off a free kick in the 86th minute (86:00) to tie the match at 3-3.
The Friars remain unbeaten through six games, marking the program's best start in the 21st century.
