Men’s Soccer Heads Back on the Road to Face Harvard on Friday.

The Friars look to get their first road win of the season.

PROVIDENCE, R.I. –  The Providence College men's soccer team (2-1-1) will take a road trip on Friday (Sept. 4) to Harvard University (1-1-0) in Cambridge, Mass. beginning at 6 p.m. The game will be available for streaming on ESPN+.

SCOUTING THE FRIARS…
The Friars enter Friday's match after a draw 1-1 with Boston University on Monday, Aug. 31. The Friars were led by sophomore midfielder Angelo Ventrella (Toronto, Canada) who scored the equalizer in the 82nd minute off a PK. 
The Friars have scored 10 goals in their first four games this season. The team has outshot opponents 71-59, which comes to an average of 17.8 shots per game. They also hold a 33-28 advantage in shots on target and hold a 21-15 advantage in corner kicks. 
Angelo Ventrella leads the Friars in points through the first four games. He has two goals and three assists. Graduate student Sam Montalto (Stonington, Conn.), redshirt-junior Brian Garrepy (Warwick, R.I.) and senior Fernando Garcia Gil (Granada, Spain) all have four points in the first four games. All three players recorded two goals each. Junior Alvaro Maneiro (Madrid, Spain) and freshman David Casado (Alicante, Spain) both have three points, recording one goal and one assist each. 
Defensively, the Friars have conceded seven out of the 59 total shots taken (.119). Redshirt-sophomore goalkeeper Ryan Carney (Dunstable, Mass.) has started every match in net this season, collecting 21 saves and a .750 save percentage. He averages at least five saves per match. Freshman Ian Morel (Pawtucket, R.I.), junior Brandon Marshall (Wake Forest, N.C.) and junior Vasco Teixeira (Arrentela, Portugal), Steban Lopera (Revere, Mass.) have been anchoring the defense. 

SERIES HISTORY AGAINST HARVARD…
The Friars will travel to Cambridge, Mass. to face Harvard (1-1-0) on Friday, Sept. 4. Providence is 5-11-0 all-time against the Crimson, with the last meeting coming during a 2-0 setback in 2025. 

SCOUTING THE CRIMSON…
Harvard won its first game of the season at the University of Massachusetts, 4-1, on Aug 28. Four different players scored for Harvard: Ben Kelly, Dylan Tellado, Adam Poliakov and Shane Lonergan. They then played at Notre Dame on Aug. 31, where they lost 3-1. Gil De Souza scored his first goal of the season against Notre Dame.

 
UP NEXT…
The Friars will return home on Monday, Sept. 7 to face in-state rival, the University of Rhode Island. The match will kick off at 7:00 p.m. on Chapey Field at Anderson Stadium and will be available for streaming on ESPN+. The Friars are 10-10-2 all-time against the Rams. Providence won last year's meeting at Rhode Island on Sept. 1, 2025, 3-1.
