Heather Cappello Named ECAC CC Runner Of The Week

PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- Providence College sophomore Heather Cappello (Lockport, N.Y.) was named the ECAC Division I Cross Country Runner of the Week on Wednesday, November 3. Cappello earned the honor after finishing third at the BIG EAST Cross Country Championship on October 29 at Van Cortlandt Park in the Bronx, N.Y.
With her third-place finish, Cappello helped her team place second of 13 squads at the Championship. The Friars, ranked 17th in the country, scored 59 points and finished second behind Georgetown (41 points) and 15 points ahead of defending national champion Villanova (third place - 74 points) at the BIG EAST Championship.
Cappello, the daughter of Joseph and Linda Cappello, is a 1998 graduate of Starpoint High School.
The Providence women's cross country team will return to action on November 13 at the NCAA Northeast Regional Championships at Franklin Park in Boston, Mass.
