Men's Cross Country Opens Season with Win at UNH

DURHAM, N.H. - Providence College (18 points) won its season opener Friday, Sept. 4 by defeating the University of New Hampshire (49 points), Northeastern (67 points) and Maine (110) in a men's cross country meet at Durham, N.H.

The Friar harriers captured seven of the first 10 positions in Friday's race. Providence senior Ben Noad (Bristol, England) finished first to lead the Friars in a time of 24:11. Also scoring for the Friars was junior Keith Kelly of Drogheda, Ireland (second - 24:30), senior Rick Bush of Clifton Park, N.Y. (fourth - 24:51), senior Zack Ventress of Spokane, Wash. (fifth - 25:04) and freshman Dermot Galvin of Kilrush, Ireland (sixth - 25:19).

The PC men's cross country team will return to action on Saturday, Sept. 19 at the Boston Festival in Franklin Park.
