MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. -- The Providence College women's cross country team earned 159 points and finished fifth of 29 schools at the Roy Griak Invitational at the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis, Minn., on Saturday, September 23.
Providence was led by All-American senior Rachel Hixson of Media, Pa., who finished third in a time of 21:14. Senior Francine Darroch of Cambridge, Ontario (11th - 21:31), junior Claire Shearman of Portsmouth, N.H. (42nd - 22:05), freshman Lisa Cappello of Lockport, N.Y. (51st - 22:14) and sophomore Roisin McGettigan of Wicklow, Ireland (52nd - 22:16) rounded out the scoring for the Friars.
The Friars return to action on Oct. 13 at the New England Championships at Franklin Park in Boston, Mass.
