The Providence College women's hockey was defeated at No. 4 Dartmouth, 4-3, on Sunday, February 3 in Hanover, N.H.

The Friars led 1-0 after one period on a goal by freshman Rush Zimmerman (Grosse Pointe, Mich.) at 4:16. Senior Kim Mathias (Ballston Lake, N.Y.) and junior Jenn Butsch (Berlin, Vt.) were credited with the assists. The Big Green scored the next three goals, including two by Kim McCullough, to take a 3-1 lead into the third period.

The Friars bounced back with two goals in a span of 1:26 to tie the game at 3-3 in the third period. Junior Danielle Culgin (Framingham, Mass.) tallied her eighth goal of the season to bring the Friars within, 3-2. Moments later, Mathias scored to tie the game at 3-3. However, with 1:58 remaining in regulation Krista Dornfried scored the game winner for the Big Green.

Mathias recorded one goal and two assists for the Friars. Mathias, who came into to the game with 98 career points, now has 101 career points at Providence.

In net, PC's Amy Quinlan (Baton Rouge, La.) made 27 saves, while Dartmouth's Amy Ferguson stopped 28 shots. With the loss, the Friars fell to 12-10-3 overall while the Big Green improved to 15-3-2.

The Friars are back in action on Friday, February 8 as they face Quinnipiac in Northford, Conn. at 7:00 p.m.
