PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- The Providence College women's cross country team is ranked 18th in the FinishLynx Division I Women's Cross Country National Poll, released on Monday, September 16. Despite winning their first two meets, the Friars dropped four spots to 18th.
Providence received 173 votes. Brigham Young received 390 points including all 13 first place votes to remain at the top spot.
In their latest competition, the Friars placed first at the Dartmouth Invitational on September 14 in Hanover, N.H. PC had four runners finish in the top-11, led by senior Roisin McGettigan (Wicklow, Ireland) who finished first in a time of 19:05. McGettigan also was victorious on September 6 as she helped the Friars capture the University of New Hampshire Invitational in Durham, N.H. At the UNH Invitational, the Friars swept the top five spots and scored 15 points.
Providence will compete at the Roy Griak Invitational on Saturday, September 28 in Minneapolis, Minn.
