BOSTON, Mass. -- The 18th-ranked Providence College men's cross country team captured its 23rd New England Championship on Friday, October 11, 2003 at Franklin Park in Boston, Mass. It also marked the fourth consecutive New England crown for Head Coach Ray Treacy's team and the seventh title in 10 years.
Providence (40 points) was led by juniors Dylan Wykes (Kingston, Ont.) and Patrick Moulton (Pelham, N.H.). Wykes took second-place in a time of 24:00, while Moulton finished right behind Wykes in a time of 24:03. Brown University's Patrick Tarpy captured the individual title in a time of 23:57 and led the Bears (59 points) to a second-place finish.
Friar senior Jamie Carmichael (Windsor, Vt.) also finished in the top-10 as he crossed the finish line in eighth-place (24:40). Graduate student Tim Curran (Northboro, Mass.) also ran a strong race, finishing 11th in a time of 24:47, while sophomore Joe Dionne (Oshawa, Ont.) placed 16th in a time of 25:01.
Providence returns to action on October 31 at the BIG EAST Championship.
