Women's Cross Country Takes Ninth Place At Pre Nationals

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. - Providence College women's cross country competed at Pre Nationals on Saturday, October 13 in Terre Haute, Ind. The event was hosted by Indiana State University. The Friars posted an ninth-place finish among a field of 38 teams participating in the White Team Race with 287 points.

Junior Danette Doetzel (Macklin, Saskatchewan) was the first Friar runner to cross the finish line with a sixth-place finish in a time of 20:23. Junior Katie DiCamillo (Garden City, N.Y.) took 19th place with a time of 20:51. Senior Michelle Childs (Cameron, Ontario) and sophomore Krystal Douglas (Harpswell, Maine) finished within a second of one another in 57th (21:20) and 61st place (21:21), respectively. Junior Sarah Morgan (Waikato, New Zealand) rounded out the scoring members of the women's team with a 144th-place finish in a time of 22:19.

Princeton won the women's team title in the White Team Race with 149 points.

The Friars return to action on Saturday, October 27 at the BIG EAST Championship. Providence will look to repeat as champs since earning the team title in 2006 at Franklin Park in Boston, Mass. The 2007 BIG EAST Championship will be held in Louisville, Ky.
