Shane Quinn Named BIG EAST Male Athlete Of The Week

Sept. 23, 2014 NEW YORK, N.Y. -

The BIG EAST Conference announced the BIG EAST Athletes of the Week for cross country on Sept. 23. Providence senior Shane Quinn (Waterford, Ireland) was named BIG EAST Male Athlete of the Week. The honor marks Quinn's second BIG EAST Cross Country Male Athlete of the Week accolade during his career at Providence.

Quinn earned the honor after winning the Wolfie Invitational at Stony Brook University on Sept. 13. Quinn finished the 8km course in a time of 24:53.28 and also helped the Friars win the meet.

Next up for Quinn and the 16th-ranked Friars is the Coast-to-Coast Battle In Beantown at Franklin Park, Boston, Mass. on Friday, Sept. 26 as the team goes head-to-head with other nationally ranked teams.
