Oct. 19, 2016 Providence, R.I.- The USTFCCCA released their latest national rankings on Oct. 18. The new poll saw the women's team move to the fourth position in the national poll. The Providence men slid just outside the top 30 to 31st position.
This past weekend, the Providence women finished third in a deep field at the Nuttycombe Wisconsin Invitational. The Friars scored 170 points finishing behind No.2 Washington (124 points) and No.3 NC State (166).
"This ranking is a more realistic representation as to where we are, given the fact that Catarina (Rocha) is redshirting this season," said Coach Ray Treacy about the recent rankings. The Providence men also competed at the Nuttycombe Invitational. Entering the weekend, the Friars were ranked 24th in the nation. In the deepest field of the regular season, the men finished in 19th place with 486 points. The USTFCCCA has the men ranked just outside of the national rankings in 31st place.
The Friars will race a "B" team at the CCSU Mini Meet on Oct. 21 before racing their top squads at the BIG EAST Championships at Oct. 28.
