Last Time Out
- The Friars broke the ice at 8:47 of the first period as Parker Ford re-directed Uula Ruikka's point shot over the blocker of Vomacka for the 1-0 lead. Greg Printz also earned an assist on the play.
- Providence aimed to extend their lead late in the period as UConn's Kale Howarth was whistled for roughing, but couldn't convert despite a few quality looks.
- The Friars held a 19-9 advantage in shots through 20 minutes of play.
- Uula Ruikka and Nick Poisson struck for goals 60 seconds apart early in the second period to give the Friars a 3-1 lead.
- Ruikka one-timed a shot past Vomacka after a faceoff win. Cam McDonald and John McDermott earned the assists on the play.
- Poisson extended the lead to 3-0 after he finished off Ben Mirageas' shot from the point. Tyce Thompson earned the secondary assist on Poisson's fifth tally of the season.
- Jachym Kondelik got the Huskies on the board at 3-1, stuffing a shot past Stauber on the short side at 9:20 of the second period.
- Tyce Thompson extended the Providence lead at 1:45 of the third period with his 11th goal of the season.
- The Friar penalty kill came up big in the third period, killing off all three power play opportunities for the Huskies.
- Brett Berard and Max Crozier added goals down the stretch to extend the lead to 6-1.
- Five players finished the night with two-point performances (Berard, Mirageas, Poisson, Ruikka and Thompson). Twelve players registered at least one point in the game.

Playoff Nuggets
- Under Nate Leaman, Providence is 16-13 overall in the Hockey East Tournament dating back 2012 after Sunday's Hockey East Quarterfinal win at UConn. The Friars also improved to 5-1 all-time in single elimination quarterfinal games.
- Providence makes its 16th appearance in the Hockey East Semifinals and sixth under Nate Leaman. The Friars are 5-11 all-time and 1-4 under Nate Leaman in the semifinal round, winning their last appearance by a 3-2 overtime decision against Northeastern in 2018.
- The Friars seek their sixth Hockey East Championship appearance all-time. In 2018, the Friars fell to Boston University, 2-0, at TD Garden.
- Wednesday marks the second time the teams will face-off in the Hockey East Tournament, with the Friars sweeping the Minutemen in a best-of-three Opening Round series back in 2017.

Thompson Named Second Team Hockey East All-Star
- Tyce Thompson leads the Friars with 10 goals and 12 assists in 23 games this season and earned his second-consecutive Second Team Hockey East All-Star accolade.

Three Current and Future Friars Drafted
Forwards Brett Berard and Chase Yoder were both selected on day two of the 2020 NHL Draft in October. Berard was selected by the New York Rangers in the fifth round (134th overall), while Yoder was selected by the Pittsburgh Penguins in the sixth round (170th overall). Future Friar Riley Duran was taken by the Boston Bruins in the sixth round (182nd overall).

Meet the New Guys
Providence welcomed in a seven-member incoming class for this season - four freshmen and three transfer student-athletes. The freshmen are: Brett Berard, Nick Poisson, Uula Ruikka and Chase Yoder. Sophomore Jaxson Stauber is a transfer from Minnesota State, while Matt Tugnutt and Anton Martinsson are graduate transfers from Sacred Heart and Alaska Fairbanks, respectively.

Spreading Out the Points
Twenty-one different Friars had at least one point last season. Through 22 games in 2020-21, 21 players have recorded at least one point while 19 players have tallied at least one goal.

Stauber Backstops The Friars
Since becoming eligible on Dec. 13, Jaxson Stauber has posted a 2.16 GAA and a .919 save percentage in 22 games, stopping 545-of-593 shots.

Returning Production
Providence ranked sixth in the nation with 84 goals that returned this season. The 82% of returning goals ranked fourth nationally. The Friars also returned 76% of their points from last season, which also ranked sixth.

Youth Movement
The Friars have the 10th youngest roster in the NCAA this season (average age of 21 years, 181 days). Freshman Brett Berard is the fifth youngest player on an NCAA roster this year.

Seeking Seven
Providence holds the nation's second longest-active NCAA appearance streak, having made a sixth-straight tournament appearance in 2018-19. Denver leads the pack with 12-straight appearances.

Three is the Magic Number
The Friars are 174-19-20 all-time under Nate Leaman when scoring three or more goals in a game.

After 40
The Friars are 158-7-17 all-time under Nate Leaman when holding a lead after two periods.

Third Period Momentum
The Friars have a 36-18 (+18) margin overall this season in the third period.

GWGs for Everyone
Ten different players have accounted for the Friars' 11 game-winning goals this season. Sophomore Jamie Engelbert is the only Friar to record multiple game-winners this season.

Scouting the Minutemen
The Minutemen enter Wednesday's game on a current eight-game unbeaten streak (5-0-3), including a 4-1 win over Northeastern on Sunday in the Hockey East Quarterfinals. Leading scorer Bobby Trivigno tallied three points (1-2-3) in the win over Northeastern on Saturday and has totaled nine goals and 18 assists in 23 games this year. The Minutemen boast nine players with at least 10 points this season. Filip Lindberg has continued his strong play in goal with a 1.55 GAA and .939 save percentage in 10 games this season.

Series History vs. UMass (PC leads 48-30-8, .605)
Wednesday marks the fourth meeting of the season between the two teams. In a home-and-home series back in January, the squads skated to a pair of ties, with each team winning a shootout. On Feb. 23, UMass jumped on the Friars early in a 8-1 win at Schneider Arena.
