A Look at UMass...
The Minutemen enter Friday night's game after dropping a 6-4 decision at home to Boston University on Tuesday night. Bobby Trivigno leads the way for UMass with 23 points (11g, 12a), while Scott Morrow (9-12-21) and Ryan Ufko (2-12-14) round out the top three in scoring. In goal, Matt Murray has posted a 2.33 GAA and .925 save percentage in 21 games for the Minutemen. Murray was pulled after allowing four goals against BU on Tuesday as freshman Luke Pavicich made his collegiate debut in stopping 8-of-9 shots he faced.

A Look at Boston University...
The Terriers are 8-1-1 over their last 10 outings including a 6-4 win on the road at UMass on Tuesday night. Robert Mastrosimone and Domenick Fensore are tied for the team lead in scoring with 18 points each. Wilmer Skoog's 17 points rank third on the team. Goaltender Drew Commesso, who was named to the U.S. Olympic Team, has posted a 2.50 GAA and .913 save percentage in 23 games. Vinny Duplessis has recorded a 2.43 GAA and .885 save percentage over five appearances.

Series History vs. UMass (PC leads 48-33-8, .584)
The Friars and Minutemen will meet for the third and final time this season on Friday night in Amherst. UMass swept a weekend home-and-home series from Nov. 5-6 and are unbeaten in six games against the Friars on home ice (5-0-1) dating back to 2017.

Series History vs. Boston University (PC trails 59-110-19, .364)
The Friars and Terriers will meet for the first of two meetings this season on Sunday. The teams will meet at Schneider Arena on Feb. 10. Last season, road teams claimed both contests over Jan. 8-9, 2021 with the teams combining for 20 goals over two games. Providence is unbeaten in the last four trips to BU (2-0-2) including a 7-3 win at Walter Brown Arena last season.

Stauber Named Hobey Baker Nominee
Providence College junior goaltender
Jaxson Stauber (Plymouth, Minn.) has been nominated for the Hobey Baker Award, given annually to the top player in Division I men's hockey. Stauber ranks seventh in the NCAA with 15 victories, seventh in shutouts (4), 13th in save percentage (.927) and third in minutes played (1546:25). The junior has surrendered two or fewer goals in 16-of-24 starts this season in posting a 2.15 goals-against average.

Taige Harding Added to the Roster
The Providence College men's hockey program has addedÂ
Taige Harding (St. Albert, Alta.) to the roster for the second half of the 2021-22 season. The 6-foot-7-inch, 230-pound defenseman will wear No. 27 with the Friars. A third-round selection (91
st overall) of the Chicago Blackhawks in the 2021 NHL Draft, Harding joins the Friars after spending two and a half seasons with the Fort McMurray Oil Barons of the Alberta Junior Hockey League (AJHL). As a captain for the Oil Barons in 2021-22, Harding ranked second on the team in scoring with 14 goals and 23 assists for 37 points in 37 games. He also was named AJHL Defensive Player of the Week three times this season. In 99 career games with Fort McMurray, he amassed 20 goals, 36 assists and 154 penalty minutes.

Seven players recorded at least two points in Providence's season-opener against Army on Oct. 2 -

The Friars now rank second in the NCAA on the power play with a .289 success rate. The penalty kill ranks 10th nationally, checking in at 87.5%. Providence cashed in three times on the man-advantage on last Friday night at Boston College.

Providence ranked sixth in the nation with 84 goals that returned this season. The 82% of returning goals ranked fourth nationally. The Friars also returned 76% of their points from last season, which also ranked sixth.

Youth Movement
The Friars have the 16th youngest roster in the NCAA this season (average age of 21 years, 11 months). Freshman Guilluame Richard is one of the younger players on an NCAA roster this year at 18 years and 8 months.

Fourteen Former Friars Participate in NHL Training Camps, Seven Earn Roster Spots
Providence boasts 14 former players that have participated in NHL training camps thus far in September. Noel Acciari (FLA), Kasper Bjorkqvist (PIT), Jacob Bryson (BUF), Vincent Desharnais (EDM), Jack Dugan (VGK), Brandon Duhaime (MIN), Jon Gillies (NYI), Mark Jankowski (NJ), Brian Pinho (WSH),
Greg Printz (ANA), Kevin Rooney (NYR), Brandon Tanev (SEA),
Tyce Thompson (NJ) and Jake Walman (STL). Acciari, Bryson, Duhaime, Rooney, Tanev, Thompson and Walman all made opening night rosters, while Duhaime made his NHL debut on Oct. 15 in Anaheim. On Jan. 2, Bjorkqvist made his NHL debut and scored his first NHL goal against the San Jose Sharks.

Richard Continues Strong Rookie season
Rookie defensemen
Guillaume Richard is tied for the NCAA rookie lead with a +19 rating this season and leads all Hockey East players in that category. Richard earned Hockey East Defensive Player of the Week honors this weekend with his three-assist, +3 performance against Boston College over two games.
