PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The No.10 women's hockey team will matchup against No.3 Quinnipiac University in a home-and-home
series. On Friday, Dec. 9 the Friars will host the Bobcats at 6:00 p.m. at Schneider Arena before traveling to Hamden, Conn. on Saturday, Dec. 10 for a 3:00 p.m. puck drop.
Scouting the Friars
The Friars are currently 15-4-1 overall and 11-3-1 in Hockey East play. The Friars are coming off a weekend sweep over Merrimack College. Providence defeated the Warriors, 4-2, on Friday, Dec. 2 at home and again on Saturday, Dec. 3, 4-1.
Sandra Abstreiter (Freising, Germany) finished the weekend with 30 saves and currently holds a .942 save percentage with a 1.39 GAA this season. Mégane Quirion (Saint Eustache, Quebec) recorded a career-high of three assists in a single game.
Sara Hjalmarsson (Bankeryd, Sweden) also recorded three points over the weekend with one goal on Friday and a goal and an assist during Saturday's game.

As of Dec. 5, the Friars are ranked No.10 in the most recent USCHO NCAA Women's Hockey rankings. Providence received 117 votes.
Hockey East Award Winners
Sara Hjalmarsson was named Hockey East Player of the Week as announced on Nov. 21. Hjalmarsson was recognized for having a four-goal game against Maine on Nov. 19.
Abstreiter was named Hockey East Stop It Goaltender of the Week as announced on Nov. 21. Abstreiter was recognized for tallying her sixth shutout this season and 63 saves over the weekend.
Kirchmair was named Hockey East Pro Ambitions Rookie of the Month as announced on Nov. 2. Kirchmair was recognized for leading the Friars in goals with seven and leading all of Hockey East in goals among freshman.
Kirchmair was named Hockey East Pro Ambitions Rookie of the Week as announced on Oct. 24. Kirchmair was recognized for earning two goals over the weekend. She has recorded seven goals and two assists across eight season games. She leads the Friars in goals and is second in points with nine.
Abstreiter was named Hockey East Goaltender of the Week as announced on Oct. 17. Abstreiter was recognized for another shutout weekend against Holy Cross. With a combined 25 saves she is the first goalie in program history to tally four-consecutive shutouts.
Abstreiter was named Hockey East Goaltender of the Week as announced on Oct. 10. Abstreiter was recognized after a shutout weekend over Union College and RPI, posting a combined 35 saves.
Hockey East Preseason Poll
The Friars were picked to finish fourth in the Hockey East Preseason Poll, which was released on Tuesday, Sept. 13. Providence received 61 points and was picked to finish behind Northeastern (90), Vermont (79) and Boston College (76). The Huskies, who won the 2022 Hockey East Tournament, received nine first place votes.
Fresh Friar Faces
Providence welcomes seven new players (three transfers and four freshmen) to the roster for the 2022-23 season.
Noemi Neubauerova (Prague, Czech Republic) is a graduate student from Colgate University.
Ida Press (Uppsala, Sweden) is a graduate student from University of Maine.
Rachel Weiss (Calgary, Alberta) is a junior from Penn State. The four freshmen are Mégane Quirion (Saint-Eustache, Quebec),
Kayla Kutes (Kirkland, Wa.),
Reichen Kirchmair (Oakville, Ontario) and
Cristina Cavaliere (Mississauga, Ontario).

Scouting the Bobcats
Quinnipiac currently holds a 16-1-0 overall record with a 8-1-0 ECAC conference record. The Bobcats' last weekend matchup was against Union on Dec. 2 and RPI on Dec. 3. Quinnipiac defeated Union 5-0 on Friday and beat RPI 3-0 on Saturday. As a team, Quinnipiac averages 38.3 shots per game and hold a .19 conversion rate on power plays with a 58.1 faceoff success percentage.
Who to Watch
Junior Olivia Mobley leads the Bobcats in total points and assists with 26 and 19, respectively. Sophomore Maya Labad holds the team-high of 11 goals scored.
Graduate student goaltender Logan Angers has played in 11 games for the Bobcats this season. Angers has recorded 196 saves this season for a .947 save percentage and a 1.00 GAA. Junior goaltender Catie Boudiette has played in six games and has recorded 99 saves for a .980 save percentage and a .33 GAA.
All Time Series with the Bobcats
Providence leads the all-time series record against Quinnipiac, 9-2-2. In their last matchup on Oct. 15 and 16 of 2021, both games ended in a tie.
