LAST TIME OUT
- The No. 17 Providence College men's hockey team fell to No. 20 Boston University, 4-1, on Thursday night at Schneider Arena.
- Both teams were scoreless through the opening twenty. The Terriers outshot the Friars, 10-9 in the first period.

Patrick Moynihan broke the ice for the Friars, 1-0, with a power-play goal at the 9:51 mark of the second period. Moynihan was assisted by
Brett Berard and
Nick Poisson on his 11
th strike of the season. Berard fed Moynihan with a cross-crease pass and the junior finished on a one-timer to give the Friars the lead.
- The Terriers responded just 1:41 later, 1-1, with a power-play goal from Jay O'Brien after
Michael Citara was whistled for boarding.Â
- Boston University found a 2-1 lead 14 seconds into the power play after
Parker Ford was assessed a five-minute major for hitting from behind at the 17:24 mark of the second.
- The Friars faced 2:24 remaining in the penalty kill going into the third. The Terriers found the back on the net 51 seconds into period three on their third power-play goal of the night by Jay O'Brien to extend the lead to 3-1
- The Terriers improved their lead, 4-1, with a goal from Brian Carrabes with 11:04 remaining in play.

A Look at UMass Lowell...
The River Hawks enter the weekend tied for first in the Hockey East standings with 37 points, despite dropping games Northeastern and New Hampshire last weekend. UMass Lowell is led by Andre Lee's 13 goals and 21 points, while Carl Berglund ranks second in scoring with 20 points on four goals and 16 assists. In goal, Owen Savory has appeared in 21 games with a 15-4-2 record, 1.85 GAA and .925 save percentage, while Henry Welsch has appeared in six games with a 1-4-1 record, 2.66 GAA and .893 save percentage. The River Hawks have started strong in games this season, outscoring opponents 26-12 in the first period.

Series History vs. UMass Lowell (PC leads 62-49-11, .553)
The Friars and River Hawks will meet for the first time since Dec. 13, 2020 and the first time at Schneider Arena since Dec. 6, 2019, a span of 807 days. Road teams have dominated the series in recent years, winning seven-consecutive games. The Friars currently hold a five-game winning streak at Tsongas Center dating back to the 2016-17 season. Taige Harding Added to the Roster
The Providence College men's hockey program has addedÂ
Taige Harding (St. Albert, Alta.) to the roster for the second half of the 2021-22 season. The 6-foot-7-inch, 230-pound defenseman will wear No. 27 with the Friars. A third-round selection (91
st overall) of the Chicago Blackhawks in the 2021 NHL Draft, Harding joins the Friars after spending two and a half seasons with the Fort McMurray Oil Barons of the Alberta Junior Hockey League (AJHL). As a captain for the Oil Barons in 2021-22, Harding ranked second on the team in scoring with 14 goals and 23 assists for 37 points in 37 games. He also was named AJHL Defensive Player of the Week three times this season. In 99 career games with Fort McMurray, he amassed 20 goals, 36 assists and 154 penalty minutes.

Seven players recorded at least two points in Providence's season-opener against Army on Oct. 2 -

Fourteen Former Friars Participate in NHL Training Camps, Seven Earn Roster Spots
Providence boasts 14 former players that have participated in NHL training camps thus far in September. Noel Acciari (FLA), Kasper Bjorkqvist (PIT), Jacob Bryson (BUF), Vincent Desharnais (EDM), Jack Dugan (VGK), Brandon Duhaime (MIN), Jon Gillies (NYI), Mark Jankowski (NJ), Brian Pinho (WSH),
Greg Printz (ANA), Kevin Rooney (NYR), Brandon Tanev (SEA),
Tyce Thompson (NJ) and Jake Walman (STL). Acciari, Bryson, Duhaime, Rooney, Tanev, Thompson and Walman all made opening night rosters, while Duhaime made his NHL debut on Oct. 15 in Anaheim. On Jan. 2, Bjorkqvist made his NHL debut and scored his first NHL goal against the San Jose Sharks.

Stauber Named Hobey Baker Nominee
Providence College junior goaltender
Jaxson Stauber (Plymouth, Minn.) has been nominated for the Hobey Baker Award, given annually to the top player in Division I men's hockey. Stauber ranks eighth in the NCAA with 17 victories, sixth in shutouts (4), 11th in save percentage (.924) and first in minutes played (1844:35). The junior has surrendered two or fewer goals in 20-of-31 starts this season in posting a 2.08 goals-against average.

Berard, Poisson Among Hockey East Leaders
Sophomores
Brett Berard and
Nick Poisson find themselves at the top of some of Hockey East's major scoring categories. Berard ranks second in the league in scoring with 33 points on 14 goals and 19 assists. He also is tied for first in game-winning goals (4) and power-play goals (7). Poisson ranks third in scoring with 32 points and first with 24 assists.
