PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The Providence College men's soccer team (5-6-2, 3-2-1 BIG EAST) are set to travel to DePaul University (2-7-6, 0-5-1 BIG EAST) on Saturday, Nov. 1 at 4:00 p.m. on Wish Field in Chicago, Ill. The game will be streamed on ESPN+.
Saturday's game is important for Providence's post season aspirations. The Friars are tied with two other teams for fourth in the BIG EAST standings. The top four teams in the league make the BIG EAST Tournament that will take place Nov. 13-16 at Maryland SoccerPlex in Boyds, Md. Georgetown, Seton Hall and Creighton sit above Providence in the standings, while UConn and Akron are tied with the Friars at ten points. All teams have two matches remaining.

SCOUTING THE FRIARS
Providence enters Saturday's match in a three-way tie for fourth in the BIG EAST standings. The Friars are coming off a 0-0 tie against UConn their last time out and are looking to register more points as the regular season standings wind down.
Against UConn, Redshirt freshman
Ryan Carney (Dunstable, Mass.) earned his fourth clean sheet of the season. The Friars' back line of
Vasco Teixeira (Arrentela, Portugal),
Charlie Dickerson (Norwich, England),
Cameron Yriondo (Sammamish, Wash.) and
Mitchel Varley (Portsmouth, N.H.) held the Huskies to just three shots on net.
Through 13 games, the Friars have outshot opponents 169-120, which comes to an average of 13 shots per game. They also hold a 76-50 advantage in shots on target and hold a 77-43 advantage in corner kicks.
Sam Montalto leads the team in points, registering 11.
Bruno Rosa (Cascais, Portugal) is second on the team with nine points.
Ian Abbey (Elmer, N.J.) has put together a strong senior campaign, registering eight points on three goals and two assists. Freshman
Angelo Ventrella (Toronto, Canada) and junior
Fernando Garcia Gil (Granada, Spain) have been consistent offensive threats for the Friars, each scoring two goals in their first season with the team.
Caden Stafford (Cincinnatus, N.Y.),
Cameron Yriondo Vasco Teixeira and
Khayr Ogunsanya (Sicklerville, N.J.) all have recorded one goal on the year.
Pearse O'Brien leads the team in assists with four.
Defensively, the Friars have conceded 15 goals while holding opponents to nine shots per game. Redshirt-freshman goalkeeper
Ryan Carney (Dunstable, Mass.) has started every match in net this season, collecting 32 saves and a .681 save percentage. Graduate

AWARDS AND RECOGNITION
It was announced on Sept. 29 that senior
Sam Montalto was named to the
BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll. Montalto registered two goals in a 1-0-1 week for the Friars, tallying the equalizer in the 90
th minute in a 1-1 draw with Brown, as well as adding a goal in a 3-2 win at Xavier.
It was announced on Oct. 6 that senior
Bruno Rosa was named the
BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week. Rosa registered five points in the Friars' 5-0 win over Villanova, tallying two goals and an assist. Rosa became the first Friar to receive this recognition since Brendan McSorley in 2023.
It was announced on Oct. 20 that redshirt freshman goalkeeper
Ryan Carney of the Providence College men's soccer team was named the

Sam Montalto was also named to the
BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll. It marked Carney's first BIG EAST recognition and Montalto's second of the season.
It was announced on Oct. 27 that graduate student
Charlie Dickerson (Norwich, England) of the Providence College men's soccer team was named to the
BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll.
Dickerson anchored the back line for Providence in a 0-0 tie with UConn. The clean sheet marked Providence's fourth of the season.
Two returners earned All-BIG EAST honors last season for the Friars. Rosa earned All-BIG EAST Second Team. Senior midfielder
Diego Batista (Barcelos, Portugal) was named to the All-BIG EAST Third Team. Both Rosa and Batista were named to the 2025 Preseason All-BIG EAST Team on Aug. 19.
SCOUTING THE BLUE DEMONS
DePaul comes in to Saturday's match looking for its first BIG EAST win of the season. They currently sit at 2-7-6 overall and 0-5-1 in the BIG EAST. The Blue Demons lone BIG EAST point came against Villanova on Sept. 19 when they tied the Wildcats, 1-1. In their last match, the Blue Demons lost 4-1 to conference rival Marquette. Junior forward Keagan Pace leads the Blue Demons attack. He has registered four goals for eight total points on the season. The Blue Demons have started three different goalkeepers this season. Clayton Brooks, Santiago Davila and Hayden Vostal have all made starts in net for DePaul this season.
UP NEXT… The Friars return home for senior night to take on Georgetown on Nov. 7. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. and the game will be streamed on ESPN+.
