Men’s And Women’s Track To Compete At BIG EAST Outdoor Championship

The championship will be held on May 15-17 in Connecticut.
PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Providence College men's and women's track and field teams will travel to Storrs Conn., for the BIG EAST Outdoor Track Championship. The competition will take place Thursday, May 15 through Saturday, May 17 at the Sherman Sports Complex at the University of Connecticut. 44 Friar athletes will be traveling to the Conference Championship.

On the women's side, senior Kimberley May (Auckland, New Zealand) will lead the Friars in the 5,000 meters. May, a seven time All-American, won the 5,000 meters last year at the BIG EAST Outdoor Championship in a BIG EAST record time and personal best of 15.26.50. May went on to finish second in the 1,500-meter finals at the NCAA Outdoor Track Championship last year.
Graduate student Shannon Flockhart (Longstanton, England), an eight-time All-American, will be competing in the 1,500 meters. Flockhart finished second in the 1,500-meter finals last year at the BIG EAST Outdoor Championship and went on to finish sixth in the event at the NCAA Outdoor Track Championships. Flockhart owns a personal best time of 4:04.98 (Cork, Ireland) in the 1,500 meters. Her time of 4:05.99 in the semifinals of the 1,500 meters at the 2024 NCAA Outdoor Track Championship ranks as the eighth all-time collegiate time.
Competing in the 10,000 meters will be graduate student Alex Millard (Kent, England). Millard, a two time All-American, won the 3,000 meters and set a BIG EAST record at the BIG EAST Indoor Championship in a time of 8:50.32. Millard recently won the 5,000 meters at the Raleigh Relays in a time of 15:27.02.
Sophomore Maeve O'Neill (Cork Ireland) will run in the 800 meters for the Friars. O'Neill finished third last year at the BIG EAST Outdoor Championship in the 800 meters and set a personal best time of 2:03.61 at Cork City Sports in July of 2024.
On the men's side, senior Brett Lehman (Lower Gwynedd, Pa.) will run the 400 meters. Lehman was recently named BIG EAST Outdoor Track Male Athlete of the Week after winning the 400 meters in a time of 46.99 to set the program and facility record at the Friar Invitational. The senior finished third last year in the BIG EAST Outdoor Championship.
Graduate student Pat Thygesen (Brisbane, Australia) will be competing in the 3,000 meter steeplechase. Last year at the BIG EAST Outdoor Championship, Thygesen won the 3,000 meter-steeplechase in a time of 8:50.07. The graduate student holds a personal best of 8:33.78.
Freshman Cormac Dixon (Dublin, Ireland) will compete in the 5,000 meters. Dixon has a personal best of 13.57.99 in the 5,000 meters and most recently finished fourth in the 3,000 meters at the BIG EAST Indoor Championship in a time of 8:07.09.
