CHICAGO, Ill. – The Providence College men's and women's track teams competed on the second day of the BIG EAST Indoor Championships on Saturday, Feb. 28 at the Dr. Conrad Worrill Track and Field Facility in Chicago, Ill.
Junior
Maeve O'Neill (Cork, Ireland.) won the 800 meters and helped the 4 x 800 meter team capture a title. For her efforts, she was named BIG EAST Most Outstanding Female Track Performer.

O'Neill earned herself a BIG EAST title and All-BIG EAST honors in the 800-meter finals. O'Neill finished in a time of 2:01.15. She was followed up by teammate
Kiera Hall (Christchurch, New Zealand) who placed sixth (2:08.85).
Senior
Cara Laverty (Derry, Ireland) kicked of the second day competing in the mile final and placed third in a personal best time of 4:39.48. She earned All-BIG EAST honors for her third-place finish.

Kiera Hall (Christchurch, New Zealand), senior
Cara Laverty (Derry, Ireland) and O'Neill captured the BIG EAST title in a time of 8:38.58. The team earned All-BIG EAST accolades
In the 400-meter finals sophomore
Chloe Higgins (Morristown, N.J) ran in the finals and finished in a time of 56.54 (seventh).
In the women's 3000-meter finals led freshman
Kate Currie (Christchurch, New Zealand) led the women, placing eighth in a time of 9:26.85. Sophomore
Emily Bush (Saratoga Springs, N.Y.) (9:48.97), freshman
Emilia O'Leary (East Aurora, N.Y.) (9:51.12) and freshmen Luci West (Raleigh, N.C.) (9:53.66) also ran the 3,000.
Wrapping up the day for the women was the women's 4x400 meter relay team who had a successful day, placing fourth. The team was made up of senior Jillian Fenerty (Franklin, Mass.), sophomore

Maggie Kemper (Huntington, N.Y.) They had a time of 3:50.84.

Jon Mignacca (Seekonk, Mass.) captured PC's first ever BIG EAST high jump and men's field event title when he finished first with a jump of 2.01 meters.
Also on the men's side, junior
Tyler Bartlett (Fairfield, Conn.), senior
Zane Powell (Auckland, New Zealand) and freshman
Jack Dowd (Pearl River, N.Y.) each competed in the mile finals. Bartlett finished fourth in a time of 4:16.99. Powell (4:19.72, ninth) and Dowd (4:24.09, 11
th) also ran well for the Friars.
Sophomore Tom Breen (Providence, R.I.) came in fourth place in the 800 meter finals in a personal best time of 1:48.92.
Sophomore
Elliott Pugh (Tauranga, New Zealand) ran a strong race in the 3,000 meters as he finished second in a personal best time of 8:00.44 and earned All-BIG EAST honors. Sophomore
Daniel Prescott (Christchurch, New Zealand) also ran the 3,000 and finished in a personal best time of 8:08.74 (10
th).

Kyle Bloomer (Darien, Conn.), freshman
Eli Wood (South Kingstown, R.I.) and junior
Owen Comiskey placed seventh overall in a time of 3:18.14.
All athletes who finished in the top three of their respective races earned All-BIG EAST honors.
