Freshman Jack Parsons made 26 saves for the Friars.

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Freshman goaltender Jack Parsons made 26 saves, while freshmen Roger McQueen netted two goals and Julius Sumpf added a career-high three assists in No. 18/17 Providence College men's hockey's 6-1 win over No. 12/14 Maine on Friday (Jan. 9) at Schneider Arena.

NOTES

- After a scoreless opening half of the first period, the Friars struck for a pair in the latter half to take a 2-0 lead into the locker room.

- Logan Sawyer netted his seventh of the season off the rush on assists from John Mustard and Graham Gamache at 11:24.

- Hudson Malinoski cashed in the power play at 15:43, burying his fifth goal of the year off assists from Will Elger and Julius Sumpf.

- Each team a had a pair of power play opportunities in the opening period.

- After the Friars killed off a 5-on-3 early in the second, Jonathan Fauchon fired home a power-play goal for his sixth of the season to extend the lead to 3-0.

- Maine's Albin Boija was replaced by Mathis Rousseau after the Fauchon goal.

- Roger McQueen scored his seventh goal of the year on a 5-on-3 advantage at 15:48 of the second period to make it 4-0.

- Providence continued to extend the lead as Quinn Mantei one-timed a feed from Alexander Bales for his second of the season and a 5-0 Friar lead.

- Brandon Holt broke the shutout bid with a power-play goal 48 seconds into the third period.

- McQueen's power maneuver to the net led to his second goal of the night and eight overall to make it a 6-1 game.

- Parsons finished the night with a career-high 26 saves and his second win of the season.

- Sumpf registered a career-high three assists.

- McQueen has posted four goals and three assists over his last four games.

- Providence blocked a season-high 23 shots on Friday.
