Women's Soccer Set To Face Off At Connecticut

The Friars will kick off on the road against Connecticut on Saturday, Oct. 3 in Storrs, Conn. at 6:30 p.m.

Storrs, Conn. – The Providence College women's soccer team is set to finish off their three-game road trip against Connecticut (2-2-5) on Saturday, Oct. 3. Kickoff will be at 6:30 p.m. and will be available for streaming on ESPN+.

SCOUTING THE FRIARS… The Providence College women's soccer team recently tied with Creighton, 1-1, for the Friars' first conference game of the season on Saturday, Sept. 26. Providence moved to 2-1-7 overall and 0-0-1 in conference for the 2026 season. Jocy Koffi (Abidjan, Ivory Coast) scored the Friars' lone goal and now has scored in five out of the Friars' 10 matches this season. The Friars hold a 2-0-3 mark at home and are 0-1-4 on the road. 
 
BIG EAST WEEKLY HONORS… 
  • Monday, Aug. 17 - Stephanie Schoeley (Thedford, Ont.) was named the BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Week. The junior anchored the Friars' defense, logging 180 minutes of action across two games and helped limit UMass Lowell to only one shot on goal in the match.
  • Monday, Aug. 17 - Jocy Koffi was named the BIG EAST Rookie of the Week, after scoring her first and second career goals across the two matches and recorded 169 minutes on the field. 
  • Monday, Aug. 31 – Jocy Koffi was once again named the BIG EAST Rookie of the Week, after scoring her fifth collegiate goal in six games, including her first multi-goal game against Rutgers.
  • Monday, Sept. 28 – Jocy Koffi was named to the BIG EAST Honor Roll, after scoring the lone goal in the Friars BIG EAST opener, placing all three of her shots on goal over 82 minutes of action.
 
SCOUTING THE HUSKIES… Connecticut comes into the weekend match with a 2-2-5 record following a scoreless 0-0 draw against St. Johns on Wednesday, Sept. 30. In the 2026 BIG EAST Preseason Poll, Connecticut was selected to finish second, including two first place votes. Midfielder Anaya Johnson and forward Se-Hanna Mars were voted to the BIG EAST Preseason All-BIG EAST Team following a First Team and Third Team All-BIG EAST accolade for the 2025 season. Freshman Maeve Staunton has been named both the BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week and Freshman of the Week in the month of September. 

SERIES HISTORY AGAINST CONNECTICUT… The Friars hold a 4-32-3 all-time record against the Huskies. In their last meeting, the Friars were defeated in a 1-0 shutout at home during the 2025 season. 
  
UP NEXT… The Friars will return to Providence, R.I. for their BIG EAST home opener against Georgetown (3-3-3) on Wednesday, Oct. 7. The match will kick off at 6:00 p.m. and be streamed on ESPN+. The Friars are 3-18-6 all-time against the Hoyas, after their last match-up where the Friars were defeated, 5-0, in a shutout at Georgetown last season.
