Women's Soccer Set To Host Georgetown In BIG EAST Home Opener

The Friars will take on Georgetown for a weekday matchup on Wednesday, Oct. 7 in Providence, R.I. at 6:00 p.m.

Providence, R.I. – The Providence College women's soccer team is set to kick off their BIG EAST home opener against Georgetown (3-4-3) (0-2-1 in BIG EAST) on Wednesday, Oct. 7. Kickoff will be at 6:00 p.m. and will be available for streaming on ESPN+.

SCOUTING THE FRIARS… The Providence College women's soccer team recently fell short in a close game against Connecticut, 2-1, for the Friars second loss of the season on Saturday, Oct. 3. Providence moved to 2-2-7 overall and 0-1-1 in conference for the 2026 season. Junior Stephanie Schoeley (Thedford, Ontario) scored the Friars' lone goal and marks her first goal of the 2026-27 season. The Friars come into this match undefeated at home with a 2-0-3 mark.
 
BIG EAST WEEKLY HONORS… 
  • Monday, Aug. 17 - Stephanie Schoeley (Thedford, Ont.) was named the BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Week. The junior anchored the Friars' defense, logging 180 minutes of action across two games and helped limit UMass Lowell to only one shot on goal in the match.
  • Monday, Aug. 17 - Jocy Koffi was named the BIG EAST Rookie of the Week, after scoring her first and second career goals across the two matches and recorded 169 minutes on the field. 
  • Monday, Aug. 31 – Jocy Koffi was once again named the BIG EAST Rookie of the Week, after scoring her fifth collegiate goal in six games, including her first multi-goal game against Rutgers.
  • Monday, Sept. 28 – Jocy Koffi was named to the BIG EAST Honor Roll, after scoring the lone goal in the Friars BIG EAST opener, placing all three of her shots on goal over 82 minutes of action.
 
SCOUTING THE HOYAS… Georgetown comes into the weekday match with a 3-4-3 overall record and 0-2-1 in conference, following a 1-0 loss against Villanova on Saturday, Oct. 3. In the 2026 BIG EAST Preseason Poll, Georgetown was selected to finish at the top, with 98 points including eight first place votes. Senior Kaya Hanson was named the BIG EAST Preseason Defensive Player of the Year while junior Lizzie Heller earned BIG EAST Preseason Midfielder of the Year following Hanson grabbing a Second Team All-BIG EAST accolade last season. Reiley Fitzpatrick earned BIG EAST Goalkeeper of the Week in the month of September and Abby Droner has been named to the BIG EAST Honor Roll two times this season. 
 
SERIES HISTORY AGAINST GEORGETOWN… The Friars hold a 3-18-6 all-time record against the Hoyas. In their last meeting, the Friars were defeated in a 5-0 shutout at home during the 2025 season. 
  
UP NEXT… The Friars will stay in Providence, R.I. for another BIG EAST matchup against Villanova (8-0-3) on Saturday, Oct. 10. The match will kick off at 1:00 p.m. and be streamed on ESPN+. The Friars are 18-13-4 all-time against the Wildcats, after their last matchup where the Friars won, 2-1, at home last season.
