BOSTON, Mass. – The Providence College women's track team competed at the Saucony Battle for Boston at Boston University on Sunday, Feb. 22, 2026. Junior
Maeve O'Neill (Cork, Ireland) won her heat in the 800 meters in 2:00.33, breaking her own indoor program record of 2:01.96. Her time ranks as the ninth-fastest mark in NCAA indoor history. The mark also set the Irish senior indoor 800-meter record and met the qualifying standard for the World Championships.

Also competing in the 800 meters for the Friars were junior
Kiera Hall (Christchurch, New Zealand) and freshman
Gemma Galvin (Clare, Ireland), who each delivered strong performances. Hall won her heat in a personal-best time of 2:07.85, the seventh-fastest mark in program history. Galvin finished second in the same heat, breaking her own personal record with a time of 2:08.04.
The Friar men's and women's team will return to action on Friday, Feb. 27 and Saturday Feb. 28 at the 2026 BIG EAST Indoor Championships in Chicago, Ill.
