Bo Martina Named To BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll

Martina scored the game-winning goal in the Friars’ victory over No. 15 Old Dominion to open BIG EAST play.

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Providence College senior Bo Martina was named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll for field hockey on Tuesday, Sept. 22. Martina, who was tabbed BIG EAST Preseason Midfielder of the Year prior to the start of the 2026 campaign, was featured on the league's weekly honor roll for the first time this season and sixth time in her career.
 
Last week, Martina helped anchor a defensive scheme that held No. 15 Old Dominion to just three shot attempts. Additionally, she scored what proved to be the game-winning goal en route to the Friars' 2-0 win over the Monarchs. It marked Providence's first win over Old Dominion since 2016 and just the second win versus the Monarchs all-time.
 
Martina closed the weekend with one assist in the Friars' cross-city match-up against Brown. Her assist came on the game-tying goal with 1:37 left in regulation to force overtime. Brown went on to win the match, 4-3.
 
Through eight games, Martina is tied for second on the team in scoring with eight points on three goals and two assists. Last weekend, she moved into a tie for 25th on the Friars' career scoring list with 53 points on 19 goals and 16 assists. 
 
Providence (6-2, 1-0 BIG EAST) returns to action on Friday, Sept. 25 against BIG EAST foe Georgetown. The game is slated to begin at 1:00 p.m. and will be played in Washington, D.C.
