PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Providence College men's and women's cross country teams will compete in the Princeton Meadows Challenge, hosted by Princeton University, on Saturday, Sept. 26. The meet will be held on the Meadows Campus course. The men's race will begin at 9:30 a.m., while the women's race is set to begin at 10:15 a.m.

The Friar women will be led by junior Gabby Schmidt (Brisbane, Australia). To open the season, Schmidt won the Friar Invitational 4K race for the second consecutive year and broke the course record previously held by former Friar Kimberley May with a time of 13:53.1, leading Providence to a first-place finish for the sixth consecutive year. For her efforts, Schmidt was named BIG EAST Female Athlete of the Week.
Juniors
Anna Gardiner (Downpatrick, Ireland) and
Emily Bush (Saratoga Springs, N.Y.) will also compete for the Friars on Saturday. Gardiner and Bush finished second and third, respectively, at the Friar Invitational. Gardiner ran a time of 14:09.8, while Bush finished in 14:10.5.
On the men's side, the Friars will be led by junior
Cormac Dixon (Dublin, Ireland). At the Friar Invitational, Dixon placed third overall in 18:10.9 and led Providence to a second-place finish. Dixon was named BIG EAST Male Athlete of the Week for his efforts. In last year's Princeton Fall Classic, the junior was the top finisher for the Friars in the 8K race, finishing 23rd in a time of 23:36.6.
In addition to Dixon, juniors
Ryan LoCicero (Bloomfield, N.J.) and
Daniel Prescott (Christchurch, New Zealand) will race in the 8K for Providence on Saturday. LoCicero placed 10th at the Friar Invitational in 18:27.8, while Prescott followed in 11th in a time of 18:29.6. At the 2025 Princeton Fall Classic, Prescott finished in 24:03.7, while LoCicero finished in 24:36.1.
