Tim Brock enters his 13th season at Providence College and his first as Director of Cross Country and Track and Field and Head Coach of the Men's Cross Country and Track and Field teams. Brock assumed the role following the retirement of longtime Director Ray Treacy on July 1, 2026.

During his first year he helped both the men’s and women’s cross country teams to 13th-place finishes at the NCAA Championships, including three All-America honors (Shane Quinn, Benjamin Connor and Catarina Rocha). In addition, he coached Phil Reid to a runner-up finish in the heptathlon at the BIG EAST Indoor Championship and in the decathlon at the BIG EAST Outdoor Championship, as well as assisting Emily Sisson to two NCAA titles.

Brock continued his coaching success into his second season with the Friars. He assisted the women’s cross country team to a fourth place finish at the 2015 NCAA Cross Country Championships and two athletes to All-America honors (Sarah Collins and Catarina Rocha). Brock also helped Julian Oakley, Jordan Mann and Brianna Ilarda achieve All-American status during the track seasons.

During his third year at Providence, Brock helped the women’s cross country team capture another BIG EAST title while assisting the men in qualifying for the NCAA Championships. Three athletes earned All-America honors (Brianna Ilarda, Julian Oakley and Millie Paladino) as well as three BIG EAST individual titles were earned (Paladino in the indoor mile, Ilarda in the outdoor 3,000-meter steeplechase and Stephen Robertson in the 10,000 meters.)

The fourth season saw Brock help guide the men’s track team to its highest BIG EAST Outdoor finish since 2016 as well as the development off the track and field teams to include scorers in the javelin (Chris Shanahan), high jump (Michael Bittner) and 400m Hurdles (Dan Rooney).  Brock also was integral in helping the 4x800 meter team run one of the fastest times in school history at the 2018 Raleigh Relays.

Brock helped the men's cross country team finish second overall at the 2022 BIG EAST Cross Country Championship, the team's best finish since 2016. Brock also helped coach the men’s indoor track team to an IC4A Championship in 2023 for the first time in program history. Brock's efforts have also helped produce three All-Americans and an All-American honorable mention over the last four years.

During the 2024-25 season, Brock was influential in leading the women’s cross country team to a third-place finish at the 2024 NCAA Cross Country Championship, the team’s best finish since winning in 2013. Three Friars earned All-America honors for their top-25 finish. Kimberley May led the way in 10th, followed by Alex Millard in 20th and Shannon Flockhart placing 24th. In the 2025 BIG EAST Indoor Championships, Brock guided eight Friars to All-BIG EAST accolades. At the 2025 BIG EAST Outdoor Championships, Brett Lehman finished second in the 400 meters in a program record time of 46.46. Additionally, Pat Thygesen won the men’s 3,000-meter steeplechase BIG EAST title for the second consecutive year.

In 2025-26, Brock helped guide the women's cross country team to its fifth consecutive NCAA Championship appearance and 33rd overall after the Friars finished second among 37 teams at the NCAA Northeast Regional. During the indoor season, Maeve O'Neill delivered one of the most accomplished seasons in program history, setting school records in the 600, 800 and 1,000 meters while lowering her own 800-meter record to 2:00.33, the ninth-fastest time in NCAA indoor history. O'Neill captured the BIG EAST title in the 800 meters, helped lead the women's 4x800-meter relay to a conference title and earned BIG EAST Most Outstanding Female Track Performer honors before claiming Second Team All-America recognition at the NCAA Indoor Championships. She later advanced to the semifinals of the 800 meters at the World Athletics Indoor Championships, becoming the first Friar to compete at the World Championships since 2019. O’Neill went on to win two more BIG EAST titles in the outdoor season (800 meters, 4x800 relay) and was named BIG EAST Most Outstanding Female Track Perfomer again. Brock also helped Jon Mignacca become the first Friar to win a BIG EAST men's field event title with an indoor high jump championship. Providence captured a program-record nine BIG EAST track and field titles during the 2026 season, while O'Neill and Elliott Pugh qualified for the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships. O'Neill earned Second Team All-America honors in the 800 meters, while Pugh received Honorable Mention All-America recognition in the 1,500 meters.
