THE MATCH-UP... The Providence College women's basketball team will host Brown University on Sunday, November 12 at Alumni Hall/Mullaney Gymnasium in Providence, R.I.
PROVIDENCE ALL-TIME VS. BROWN... Providence and Brown have met 16 times in the history of the two women's basketball programs. The Friars lead the all-time series, 12-4.
THE LAST TIME THE TWO TEAMS MET... The last time Providence and Brown met in women's basketball was on November 26, 2002 at Alumni Hall/Mullaney Gymnasium in Providence, R.I. Brown earned a 64-62 victory on that day in the last seconds of the game.
THE LAST TIME PROVIDENCE DEFEATED BROWN... The last time Providence defeated Brown in women's basketball was on November 29, 2001. The Friars earned a 64-62 victory on that day.
PROVIDENCE VS. BROWN AT ALUMNI HALL... The Friars and Bears have met seven times at Alumni Hall/Mullaney Gymnasium on the campus of Providence College. Providence leads the all-time series in games played at Alumni Hall, 5-2. The Bears took the most recent game played at Alumni Hall, 64-62, on November 26, 2002. It also marked the last time the two teams met.
HEAD COACH Phil Seymore VS. BROWN... Second-year Head Coach Phil Seymore will guide Providence into battle against Brown for the first time in his young head coaching career. He has never faced Brown as a collegiate head coach.
PROVIDENCE STARTS SEASON WITH A WIN... The Providence women's basketball team opened the 2006-07 season with a 52-46 victory over Manhattan on November 10 in Riverdale, N.Y. It marked the first season-opening victory for PC since the 2003-04 season when it defeated Furman, 58-48, on November 22, 2003.
STREAKING... Senior Shauna Snyder (Albuquerque, N.M.) tallied a game-high 14 points in PC's victory over Manhattan on November 11. Snyder currently owns a streak of eight-straight games in double figures dating back to the end of last season. Snyder tallied double figures in 16 of the 20 games she played during the 2005-06 season.
TALL ORDER... Junior transfer Aga Lorenc (Lubycza, Poland) came to Providence College after two years at Miles Community College (Mont.). Lorenc stands 6-feet, 6-inches and is the tallest player ever to wear a Friar women's basketball uniform.
EVEN TALLER... The Friars boast the tallest roster all-time at Providence with three players registering 6'-4" and taller. Freshman Emily Cournoyer (North Attleboro, Mass.) is 6'-4", freshman Jessica Clark (Bronx, N.Y.) is 6'-5" and junior Aga Lorenc (Lubycza, Poland) is 6'-6". In addition to that trio of players, Providence has three more players on the roster who are 6'-1" or taller.
BOARD MEMBER... Junior Danielle Howard (Willingboro, N.J.) pulled down a game and career high 11 rebounds in PC's 52-46 victory over Manhattan on November 11 in Riverdale, N.Y. Her previous career high of nine rebounds came last season in PC's season opener vs. Sacred Heart on November 18, 2005.
BACK-T0-BACK... The Friars are looking to post back-to-back victories as they take on Brown on November 12 in Providence, R.I. PC last recorded back-to-back wins during the 2005-06 season when it defeated St. Francis (N.Y.), 66-44, and Cincinnati, 58-57. The Friars have not earned back-to-back wins to open a season since 1992-93 under then-Head Coach Bob Foley. On December 1, 1992 PC opened the year with an 87-75 victory over Boston University. The Friars followed with an 85-67 victory over Siena on December 5.
FRIARS PICKED TO FINISH 14th IN 2006 PRESEASON BIG EAST COACHES' POLL... The Providence College women's basketball team was picked to finish 14th in the 2006 Preseason BIG EAST Coaches' Poll, which was released on October 26 at the league's annual women's basketball media day at ESPN Zone in New York, N.Y. Connecticut tops the preseason poll with 11 first-place votes, followed by Rutgers who earned five first-place votes. Syracuse and Seton Hall were picked to finish below the Friars in 15th and 16th place.
A LOOK AT PROVIDENCE COLLEGE HEAD COACH Phil Seymore... Phil Seymore embarks on his second season as head coach of the Providence College women's basketball team. In his first season with the Friars, he led the team to a 7.5 game improvement in the win column with an 8-19 overall record. He also guided PC to three BIG EAST wins, after suffering two-straight winless seasons in league play during the 2003-04 and 2004-05 seasons. In 2006-07, Seymore has guided Providence to a 1-0 record to start the year. PC's win over Manhattan to open the season on November 10, was the Friar's first season-opening win since the 2003-04 campaign.
WHAT'S UP NEXT... The Friars will return to action on Wednesday, November 15 against Saint Peter's in a non-conference match-up at Alumni Hall/Mullaney Gymnasium in Providence, R.I. It marks the second game in the Friars' four-game homestand before heading to Greensboro, N.C. for the Thanksgiving Holiday Classic at UNC Greensboro.
