PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The Providence College field hockey team fell to Boston University, 3-0, in a non-conference matchup in Providence, R.I.
Boston University jumped out to a 1-0 lead just 2:55 into the game as Allie Dolce found the back of the cage off an assist from Andrea Greene. The Terriers tacked on another goal 11:45 into the half as Maryette Stuart scored off a deflection set up by Dolce. After a timeout by Providence, the Friars settled down and played the Terriers evenly. Boston University held a 6-4 advantage in shots and 3-0 advantage in penalty corners. The score remained 2-0 entering halftime.
Green scored the lone goal of the second half for Boston University with 14:44 remaining on the clock. The goal was a deflection off a shot from Kat Spring. Spring was credited with the assist.
Boston University finished the game with a, 13-6, advantage in shots and a 6-0 edge in penalty corners.
Providence returns to action on Sunday, September 5 when they face New Hampshire in a non-conference matchup. The game is scheduled to start at 1:00 p.m. in Durham, N.H. New Hampshire enters the game with a 3-0 record on the season, having most recently defeated Bryant, 2-0, on September 3.
