PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Providence College field hockey team defeated UMass Lowell, 1-0, in overtime on Sunday, Oct. 4 at Lennon Family Field in Providence, R.I. Senior
Carly van Benten scored the game winner just 2:40 into the extra session. The Friars improved to 9-3 on the season, while UMass Lowell dipped to 6-5.

GAME FLOW:
• The two teams played 60 minutes of scoreless hockey before heading to overtime.
• During regulation, Providence held a 9-5 edge in shots, including a 5-2 advantage in shots on goal.
• The Friars also held a 7-4 margin in penalty corners.
• Providence applied heavy offensive pressure in the fourth quarter, out-shooting UMass Lowell, 5-0.
