PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Providence College field hockey team fell to Holy Cross, 2-1, in its only game of the week on Oct. 11 in Providence, R.I. The Friars dipped to 9-4 on the season, while the Crusaders improved to 7-4 overall.

GAME FLOW:
• The first quarter ended in a scoreless draw (0-0).Â
• Providence opened the scoring in the second quarter at 21:10 after converting its first penalty corner opportunity of the game.
Saar Koper was credited with the goal off a feed from
Johanna Mahner.
• Holy Cross tied the game, 1-1, at 27:24 as Martina Di Gregorio scored off a rebound.
• At halftime, Holy Cross led in shots (4-2), and the two teams were even in shots on goal (2-2) and attacking penalty corners (1-1).
• Marissa MacLean batted in a ball at the left post during a penalty corner attempt at 39:31. MacLean's goal gave Holy Cross a 2-1 lead and was assisted by Rachel Egan.
• Holy Cross maintained its one-goal lead heading into the fourth quarter.
• Providence pulled goalkeeper
Ava Porter in favor of the extra attacker with 3:05 remaining in regulation.
• The Friars outshot the Crusaders 5-3 in the fourth quarter but were unable to score the equalizer.

• The Friars held the advantage in shots on goal, 7-4.
• Koper recorded her third goal of the season.
• Mahner notched her team-best seventh assist of the season.
• Porter finished the game with two saves, while Holy Cross goalkeeper Mia McCloskey made six saves.
