LOUISVILLE, KY. - The Providence College field hockey team fell to BIG EAST foe Louisville, 6-0, on October 21 at Trager Stadium in Louisville, Ky. The Friars will remain in Louisville to take on No. 19 Indiana on Saturday, October 22 at 2:00 p.m.
Heather Stevens and Hayley Turner each tallied two goals in the victory for Louisville, while Turner added one assist for a game-high five points. Erin Schneidtmiller and Elizabeth Vance each recorded one goal on the afternoon.
Louisville outshot the Friars, 16-4, including a 14-3 edge in shots on goal. The Cards also earned nine penalty corners in the match, compared to the Friars' two.
Shannon DiStefano (Longmeadow, Mass.) took the loss for Providence in goal. She played 54 minutes in the cage, allowed four goals and recorded six saves. Kathi Weidman replaced DiStefano for the remaining 16 minutes of play, allowed two goals and made two saves.
