Field Hockey Set To Face Cross-City Rival Brown

Oct. 12, 2014 PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The Providence College field hockey team will travel to cross-city rival Brown University on Monday, Oct. 13 to face the Brown Bears in a non-conference match at 1:00 p.m.

SCOUTING PROVIDENCE FIELD HOCKEY:
• The Friars enter Monday's match against Brown with a 9-5 overall record and have earned victories in seven of their last nine games. In their most recent game on Oct. 10 at Georgetown, the Friars left Washington, D.C. with an 8-1 victory. It marked the second time this season that Providence has scored eight goals in a single game. On Sept. 21, the Friars defeated Columbia, 8-0, in Providence, R.I. Providence has scored 5+ goals in a single game on five different occasions this season.

• Providence has scored 51 goals this season through 14 games. It marks the most goals scored by the program in a single-season since 2009. That year, Providence netted 56 goals in 20 games. During the program's 39-year history, which includes the current season, the team has scored 50+ goals 12 times. The record for goals in a single-season by the program is 67 (1989), and marks the only time in program history that the team has scored 60+ goals.

• Freshman Megan Hamilton (Warrington, Pa.) leads the Friars with 27 points on 12 goals and three assists. Using available records dating back to the 1987 season (spanning the last 28 seasons), Hamilton's 27 points are the most recorded by a rookie at Providence College.

Megan Hamilton (Warrington, Pa.), Daniella Bernasconi (Hopewell Junction, N.Y.) and Steph Guglielmo (Castle Rock, Colo.) have each recorded 25+ points and 10+ goals this season. They are the only trio to achieve that feat in the same season, using complete team statistics dating back to the 1989 campaign (spanning the last 26 season). Only 22 players total have scored 25+ points in a single-season during that span (includes current season).

Deidra Clymer (South Windsor, Conn.) has played 970 minutes in goal this season and owns a 1.88 goals against average and a 0.639 save percentage.

• On Saturday, Oct. 11 vs. Georgetown, senior Daniella Bernasconi (Hopewell Junction, N.Y.) tallied four points on two goals and moved into a tie for 10th place on the Friars' all-time career scoring list with 76 points (35 goals/six assists). Her 35 goals also moves her into a tie for eighth place on the Friars' all-time career goals list.

SCOUTING BROWN:
• Brown enters Monday's match vs. Providence with a 7-3 overall record, and have earned victories in three of its last four games. On Oct. 12, the Brown Bears defeated Lehigh, 4-2, in Providence, R.I. Hannah Rogers and Meghan O'Donnell each recorded two goals in the victory.

• Meghan O'Donnell leads Brown with 22 points on seven goals and eight assists. Alexis Miller is second on the team in scoring with 10 points on five goals.

• Shannon McSweeney has played 728 minutes in goal this season for Brown and owns a 2.21 goals against average and a 0.693 save percentage.
