Last Game
- The No. 7 Providence College men's ice hockey team ran its win streak to nine with a 6-1 win over the University of Vermont Saturday night in Hockey East action at Schneider Arena. The nine-game winning streak is the second longest streak in program history (10 games, 2015-16).
- Ten different student-athletes recorded at least one point for the Friars, including Aleksi Kivioja (2-1-3), Andrew Centrella (0-2-2), Donovan McCoy (1-1-2), Beau Jelsma (0-2-2), and Clint Levens (1-1-2).
- Freshman netminder Jack Parsons ran his win streak to nine with a 29-save performance. The Cortland, New York native has allowed just 14 goals during the win streak, which includes shutouts of both Maine (Jan. 10) and Boston University (Jan. 24).
- The Friars opened the scoring just 38 seconds into the contest when Kivioja potted his sixth of the campaign off a feed from Centrella. It doubled the lead at 15:13 of the stanza on Hudson Malinoski's eighth tally of the season.
- Minutes after the Catamounts had a goal waived off due to goaltender interference midway through the second, McCoy scored the Friars second shorthanded goal of the season at 17:40 to make it 3-0.
- Goals from John Mustard and Levens in the opening 6:25 of the third stretched the PC lead to 5-0 before Colin Kessler's shorthanded goal broke Parsons' shutout bid at 7:43.
- Kivioja's second of the night on a tap-in at the right post off a feed from Gamache capped the scoring at 18:55.
 
Scouting the Huskies:
- Northeastern enters the weekend series in Providence winless over their last six games (0-5-1) after suffering a 4-1 setback to Harvard in the Beanpot consolation game on Monday.
- The Huskies are led by junior Dylan Hryckowian (15-18-33), freshman Jacob Mathieu (7-17-24), senior Vinny Borgesi (4-14-18) and Joe Connor (9-9-18).
- In goal, junior Lawton Zacher (10-12-1) has posted a 2.17 GAA and .929 save percentage in 23 games played his season.
- In his fith season at Northeastern, Head Coach Jerry Keefe has posted a 85-76-13 record.
 
Series History vs. Northeastern (97-58-23, .610)
- Providence and Northeastern battle for the first time this season as the teams will play a pair at Schneider Arena this weekend.
- The Friars are unbeaten in the last 10 games against the Huskies (7-0-3) dating back to 2022. Northeastern's last win in the series came on Dec. 4, 2021.
- Providence is 33-19-14 all-time at Schneider Arena against Northeastern.
 
Roger McQueen Nominated For The 2026 Hobey Baker Award
Providence College freshman Roger McQueen was named as the Friars' nominee for the 2026 Hobey Baker Award. The 10th overall pick of the 2025 NHL Draft of the Anaheim Ducks leads Providence in scoring this season with 23 points on eight goals and 15 assists. He has totaled six multi-point games this season, including a career-high three points on two goals and one assist against Merrimack on Nov. 14. In Hockey East games, McQueen has totaled six goals and nine assists in 17 games with a +11 rating. He ranks third in Hockey East with 273 faceoff wins.
 
Parsons, Adams Earn Weekly Hockey East Honors
Providence College junior forward Tanner Adams (Northport, N.Y.) was named Boston Children's Hospital Hockey East Player of the Week while goaltender Jack Parsons (Cortland, N.Y.) earned Stop it Goaltending Hockey East Goaltender of the Week honors on Monday (Feb. 9). Adams earns his second-career weekly recognition and Parsons recorded his third weekly honor in the last month.
 
Adams registered a career-high four points on a goal and three assists in the Friars' 6-1 win at New Hampshire on Friday night, following up with an assist in Saturday night's 6-1 win over Vermont. He has posted 10 points (4g, 6a) over his last six games with a +7 rating. Parsons continued his strong play, extending his winning streak to nine games after stopping 51-of-53 shots over the weekend, good for a 1.00 GAA and .962 save percentage.
 
Jack Parsons Earns National and Hockey East Goaltender of the Month Honors
Providence College freshman goaltender Jack Parsons (Cortland, N.Y.) was named HCA National Rookie of the Month and Stop It Goaltending Hockey East Goaltender of the Month for January. Parsons went a perfect 7-0-0, tied for the most wins of among all NCAA goaltenders in January, after stepping in the Friars net due to injury to Philip Svedebäck. He posted two shutouts and has Providence riding a nine-game winning streak, the current longest streak in the nation. Parsons registered a 1.87 GAA and .931 save percentage in eight games during the month of January. He is the first Friar rookie to earn National Monthly honors since Jon Gillies in 2013.
 
Former Friar Nick Saracino '16 Named To Italy's Roster For 2026 Milano Cortina Olympics
Former Providence College men's hockey national champion Nick Saracino '16 (St. Louis, Mo.) was named to Italy's roster for the 2026 Milano Cortina Olympic Games set to run from Feb. 5-19. Saracino becomes the second men's hockey player to participate in the Olympics for Italy, joining Gates Orlando (1992, 1994, 1998).
 
Goaltender Michael Simpson Added To The Roster
Michael Simpson joins the Friars after spending this season with the Savannah Ghost Pirates of the ECHL. With Savannah, Simpson recorded a 2.63 GAA and .909 save percentage in 10 games played. He participated in training camp with the Florida Panthers prior to the start of this season. In 2024-25, he appeared in a total of 16 games split between Belleville (AHL) and Orlando (ECHL). The two-time OHL Champion won titles with the Peterborough Petes in 2022-23, alongside current Friar Donovan McCoy, and a championship the following season with the London Knights in 2023-24. He earned the Wayne Gretzky 99 Award as OHL Playoff MVP with Peterborough in 2023 after turning in a pair of 50-save performances during the OHL Championship Series. He guided London to an OHL title and a runner-up finish in the Memorial Cup in 2024, winning the Happ Emms Memorial Trophy as the Most Outstanding Goaltender of the Memorial Cup. Simpson was a two-time OHL All-Star Team selection in 2023 (Third Team) and 2024 (Second Team).
 
Friars By The Numbers
The Friars are the ninth tallest roster in the NCAA (6'1"), seventh youngest (21.1 years). Providence is just one of only three programs to have one senior on their roster. The Friars boasted the sixth-most NHL players that appeared in games during the 2024-25 season with 14 total.
 
The Saskatchewan Connection
Three members of this year's roster hail from Saskatchewan - Hudson Malinoski, Roger McQueen and Quinn Mantei. Malinoski and McQueen are childhood friends and played together with the Saskatoon Blazers AAA squad in 2021-22. Mantei and McQueen were teammates with the Brandon Wheat Kings from 2022-25.
 
Drafted Friars
Providence boasts seven drafted players on the 2025-26 roster: Tomas Machu (NYI - 2021), Hudson Malinoski (TOR - 2023), John Mustard (CHI - 2024), Julius Sumpf (CHI - 2025), Roger McQueen (ANA - 2025), Logan Sawyer (MTL - 2024) and Philip Svedeback (BOS - 2021). McQueen became the highest draft pick in program history after being selected 10th overall by the Anaheim Ducks in 2025. Friar commit Everett Baldwin was also selected in the 2025 NHL Draft, going to the Tampa Bay Lightning in the fifth round.

The Friars are 252-24-28 all-time under Nate Leaman when scoring three or more goals in a game.

The Friars are 223-13-23 all-time under Nate Leaman when holding a lead after two periods.
