PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Providence College men's and women's track teams are set to travel to Philadelphia, Pa., for the Penn Relays. The meet will take place from Thursday, April 23 to Saturday, April 25 at the historic Franklin Field on the University of Pennsylvania campus. The Friars will have 14 athletes competing.

On the women's side, the 1,500 meters will feature senior

Jane Buckley (Cork, Ireland) will race in the 5,000 meters. The Distance Medley Championship of America will feature Galvin, Laverty, sophomore
Chloe Higgins (Morristown, N.J.) and junior
Maeve O'Neill (Cork, Ireland). In the 4 x 800-meter Championship of America, Laverty, Galvin, O'Neill and junior
Kiera Hall (Christchurch, New Zealand) are set to compete. The College Women's 4 x 400 Championship of America will feature Higgins, senior Jillian Fenerty (Franklin, Mass.), sophomore
Keira Kelly (Scotch Plains, N.J.) and junior
Maggie Kemper (Cold Spring Harbor, N.Y.).
Laverty, Mann and Galvin all competed in the 1,500 meters this season at the Raleigh Relays. Laverty finished in 4:20.64. The senior has a personal best of 4:16.72, set at the Penn Relays in 2024. Galvin finished the 1,500 meters at the Raleigh Relays in 4:24.15, while Mann raced in 4:29.73. Galvin owns a personal best of 4:18.39, while Mann recorded her personal best time of 4:17.81 at last year's Penn Relays.
Buckley recently ran the 5,000 meters at the Friar Invitational, where she finished fifth in a time of 16:18.42. The senior has a personal best of 15:41.68.
Last year at the Penn Relays, the DMR team, which O'Neill was a part of, finished second in 10:42.57, the second-fastest time in program history.
The last time the Friars competed in the 4 x 800-meter relay was at the BIG EAST Outdoor Championships in 2025, when Laverty, O'Neill and Friar alumni
Shannon Flockhart and
Kimberley May finished first in 8:31.87, the second-fastest time in program history.
At the 2026 BIG EAST Indoor Championships, Kelly, Fenerty, Higgins and Kemper placed fourth in the 4 x 400-meter relay in 3:50.84. Kelly, Fenerty and Higgins were also members of the 4 x 400-meter relay team at the 2025 BIG EAST Outdoor Championships that set a program record in 3:47.41.
On the men's side, graduate student
Liam Back (New Plymouth, New Zealand), junior
Tyler Bartlett (Fairfield, Conn.) and freshman
Oliver Neate (Sydney, Australia) will compete in the 1,500 meters. Sophomores
Daniel Prescott (Christchurch, New Zealand) and
Elliott Pugh (Tauranga, New Zealand) will race in the 5,000 meters. Bartlett, Neate, sophomore
Thomas Breen (Providence, R.I.) and senior
Kyle Bloomer (Darien, Conn.) will compete in the Distance Medley College.
Back recently ran in the mile invite at the Friar Invitational in a time of 4:05.97. The graduate student has a personal best of 3:45.57 in the 1,500 meters. Bartlett ran in the 1,500 meters to begin the outdoor season at the Raleigh Relays in a personal best time of 3:45.36. Neate also ran in the event and was the top Friar, finishing in a personal best of 3:44.51.
Prescott raced in the 5,000 meters at the Raleigh Relays this season, finishing in a personal best of 14:08.21. Pugh will be racing his first 5,000 meters of the outdoor season. In the indoor season, Pugh raced in the event at the Boston University Season Opener in a career-best time of 14:08.90.
In the DMR, Neate and Bloomer were members of the team at the 2026 BIG EAST Indoor Championships that finished second in a time of 9:47.09.
