PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- The Providence College Field Hockey closed out its season with a 2-0 win against the University of Rhode Island at Providence, R.I. on Saturday, October 30.
PC senior Carrie Leoncavallo netted the only goal of the first half when she scored on a breakaway at 18:54. Junior Jamie Lerch added an insurance goal for PC at 4:20 of the second half to seal the win for the Friars.
Providence recorded 24 shots and 12 penalty corners while the Rams recorded 13 shots and six penalty corners.
Providence senior goalie Andrea Weyl made seven saves in the win. Rhode Island senior goalie Jackie Pizzi made 14 stops for the Rams.
With the win, the Friars finish the season with a 7-12 mark, while the Rams end the season with a 8-11 record.
