Lacrosse Drops Season Opener to No. 7 Maryland, 18-5

COLLEGE PARK, Md. -- The seventh-ranked Maryland Terrapins defeated Providence College,18-5, on Saturday, February 27 in men's lacrosse action at Maryland's Byrd Stadium in College Park, Md. Jon Kemezis led the Terps with a career high four goals.

Maryland led 8-1 at halftime and never looked back, outshooting the Friars, 65-14, in the game.

Ken Leahy and Craig Schwalb each tallied two goals to lead the Friar offense.

Providence netminder Rob Chambers and Kevin Sweeney combined to make 18 saves

With the win Maryland raised its record to 2-0 while Providence fell to 0-1.

The Friars will return to action on March 3 against Mt. St. Mary's at Baltimore, Md.
