Men's Lacrosse Defeats Marist in OT, 7-6

POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. -- Junior Ken Leahy scored his second goal of the game 2:18 into overtime to give Providence College a 7-6 win against Marist College in men's Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference lacrosse action on Saturday, April 24 in Poughkeepsie, N.Y.

The Friars led 4-1 after 30 minutes of play on goals by freshman Chris Houston (two), Leahy and senior Matt Pymm. Houston increased PC's lead to 5-1 in the second half before Paul Donohue scored four consecutive goals to even the game at 5-5. Houston notched his fourth goal in the fourth quarter as PC regained the lead, 6-5. With 3:47 remaining in regulation, Joe Aniano scored to tie the game at 6-6.

PC netminder junior Brian McCarthy recorded 14 saves in the win.

With the win, Providence raised its record to 3-10 overall and 2-6 in MAAC, while Marist fell to 3-10 overall and 2-6 in league play.

The Friars will return to action on Wednesday, April 28 against Boston College at PC's Glay Field. at 3:00 p.m.
