Softball Sweeps Quinnipiac

PROVIDENCE, RI - The Friar softball squad took two games from Quinnipiac College this afternoon in Providence, RI. In the first game, it took the Friars 10 innings to take a 3-2 victory. In the second game which was shortened by darkness, the Friars won, 2-1.

Sophomore pitcher Robyn West (Gansevoort, NY) earned the win on the mound in game one as she recorded five strikeouts and allowed only three hits. Senior Lindsay Garfield (Milford, CT) recorded two rbi including the gamewinner in the bottom of the 10th. Junior pitcher Maureen McGlynn recorded the loss on the mound for Quinnipiac.

In the nightcap, the Friars scored a run in the second and third inning to take command of the lead early. Quinnipiac scored in the top of the fifth off a pass ball for their only run of the game. PC recorded five different players with hits and Quinnipiac was led by freshman Darci Santella (Matawan, NJ) with three hits. Friar junior hurler Heather Nathan recorded her second win of the season as she struck out three and allowed six hits.

The Friars improve to 5-12 overall and Quinnipiac falls to 6-5.
