ROSEMONT, ILL. - The Providence College softball team (29-20, 18-6 BIG EAST) lost to the Creighton Bluejays (30-26, 17-7 BIG EAST), 4-2, on Thursday, May 7 in the first elimination game of the 2026 BIG EAST Tournament. With the result, Providence is eliminated from the postseason. Creighton will go on to face the loser of UConn and Butler tomorrow afternoon.
GAME NOTES
• The Friars got on the board in the third inning when
Julia Renny (Syosset, N.Y.) singled to left field and advanced to second on a fielding error, allowing
Cameron Dunn (Bothell, Wash.) to score an unearned run from third, tying the game at one.
• The Bluejays responded with three runs in the bottom of the third to take a 4-1 lead.
• In the fourth,
Hailey Frantz (Danville, Calif.) launched a solo home run to left field to add another run for Providence and cut the Creighton lead to 4-2.
• Creighton held on to its lead and secured the 4-2 victory.
• In the circle,
Addyson Frye (New Castle, Pa.) pitched a complete game, allowing seven hits and striking out three.
