PROVIDENCE, RI - The Providence College Field Hockey team defeated Holy Cross this afternoon, 6-1 at Hendricken Field.
Senior Erica Hebert (Enfield, CT) scored her first hattrick of the season as she registered the first two goals of the game to give the Friars a 2-0 advantage in the first half.
The Crusaders came back in the second with a goal by junior Jes Guilo (Bellingham, MA) to cut the lead, 2-1. The Friars registered four unanswered goals including scores by sophomore Breanne Wojnarowicz (Holden, MA), junior Amy DePietro, senior Carrie Leoncavallo and Hebert. Junior Jamie Lerch (Medway, MA) tallied three assists for the Friars.
Providence tallied 10 shots while Holy Cross managed six shots.
Providence goalie Andrea Weyl made five saves while goalies Maguel Selley and Dallas Garner made four saves for Holy Cross.
