Lacrosse Drops 8-2 Decision To Manhattan

PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- Manhattan College defeated Providence College, 8-2, in MAAC men's lacrosse action on Saturday, April 15 at Providence, R.I. Freshman Nick Silva led the Jaspers with three goals.

Silva scored two of Manhattan's four goals in the first half to give the Jaspers a 4-1 lead after 30 minutes of action. Senior Brian Walker netted the only goal for the Friars in the first half.

The Jaspers increased their lead in the third quarter with three unanswered goals. Senior Matt Daniels tallied Manhattan's eighth goal at 14:23 of the fourth quarter before PC's Jim Dooley netted the final goal of the contest with 5:39 remaining in the game.

Sophomore goaltender James Amandola recorded 12 saves in the win for Manhattan. PC's senior netminder Brian McCarthy made seven saves in 45 minutes of action and suffered the loss.

With the victory, Manhattan improved to 4-8 overall and 4-4 in the MAAC, while Providence fell to 5-7 overall and 4-4 in the MAAC.

The Friars will return to action on Tuesday, April 18 against Brown at PC's Glay Field at 4:00 p.m.
