Field Hockey Tops Rhode Island

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- Junior Courtney Dow (Hampstead, N.H.) scored the game-winning goal in a 1-0 non-conference win over the University Rhode Island on Wednesday, September 5 at Hendricken Field.

Dow's goal came with 4:54 remaining in the game off of an assist from sophomore Stefanie Suehnholz (Flemington, N.J.). Dow leads the team in scoring through three games with four goals and one assist for nine points, and was tied for first in scoring among BIG EAST players prior to this weeks games.

Providence goalkeeper Meaghan Moran (Framingham, Mass.) recorded four saves on nine Rhode Island shots. Ram goalkeeper Danielle Dangoia took in nine saves on 17 Friar attempts at goal.

Providence improves to 2-1 overall and will host Sacred Heart on Sunday, September 9 at 1:00 p.m. Rhode Island falls to 1-1 on the season.
