Field Hockey Falls In Season Finale

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The Providence College field hockey team fell to Connecticut, 2-0, in BIG EAST Conference action on Saturday, November 2 in Providence, R.I. The game marked the season finale for the Friars, who finish the season with an 8-12 overall record and a 1-4 mark in the BIG EAST Conference.

Connecticut took a 1-0 lead 1:40 into the first half as Mary Jo Malone deflected a cross pass from Lauren Henderson. Henderson was credited with the assist. The rest of the first half remained scoreless as the Husky's held onto their 1-0 at halftime.

In the second half, Kelly Cochrane tallied the Husky's second and final goal of the day at the 55:20 mark. Cochrane's goal was unassisted and earned UConn a 2-0 victory.

Junior Meaghan Moran (Framingham, Mass.) collected six saves in goal for Providence. Maureen Butler made two saves in goal for Connecticut. Connecticut improves to 12-7 overall and 5-0 in the BIG EAST. With the win Husky's earn the regular-season BIG EAST Conference Championship title.

Providence College concludes its season with a 8-11 overall record and a 1-3 mark in BIG EAST Conference action.
