Cancelled Event: Softball versus Tarleton State

HANOVER, N.H. - The Providence College softball team was defeated at Dartmouth College, 8-0, in five innings in a non-conference softball contest. The second game of the scheduled doubleheader was cancelled due to rain.
The Big Green's Danica Guigliano pitched a four-hit shutout through five innings, striking out five in the win. PC managed just four hits, two by pitcher/first baseman Cori Van Dusen (Riverside, Calif.). Junior outfielder Sarah Morin (Westerly, R.I.) and freshman catcher Ashlee Weatherford (Woodland, Calif.) registered the other two PC hits.
The Friars' junior right-hander Melissa Peterson (Huntington Beach, Calif.) started the contest for Providence. She lasted just one inning before being relived by Van Dusen.
PC returns to action on Sunday, April 28th when they host Notre Dame in a BIG EAST Conference doubleheader that begins at 12 noon.
