Cancelled Event: Softball versus Tarleton State

VILLANOVA, Pa. - The Providence College softball team was defeated in both games of a BIG EAST Conference doubleheader at Villanova University, losing 1-0 and 3-2, on Sunday, April 7th.
In game one, PC's freshman pitcher Nicole Bartholomew (Rancho Santa Margarita, Calif.) pitched a complete game and allowed four hits and just one run while striking out eight batters. The Wildcats scored the lone run off of Bartholomew in the bottom of the sixth inning on Lisa Krueger's single. VU's Theresa Hornick limited the Friars (8-24 overall/1-7 BIG EAST) to just two hits - a double by PC freshman Jackie Karsnia (Spring, Texas) and a single by freshman Jaclyn Treveloni (Ashland, Mass.).
In the second game, the Friars scored their two runs in the top of the third and fourth innings and led 2-0. Villanova scored twice in the bottom of the fourth inning and scored the game-winning run in the bottom of the sixth inning. PC sophomore Cori Van Dusen (Riverside, Calif.) was three-for-four at the plate with a run scored and freshman infielder Kalena Petersen (Mission Viejo, Calif.) was two-for-four at the plate with an RBI.
The Friars return to action on Tuesday, April 9th when they travel to Holy Cross for a doubleheader which begins at 3:00 p.m.
